Doc Rivers should be fired tonight

Phil jackson never lost like this at home in a reg season to a garbage outfit. I hope someone shoots rivers.

In the new era of the NBA, who in the hell knows when these guys are going to bother to show up. If you were making $10-25 million per guaranteed win or lose, would you give a shit? I know I wouldn't.

You cared more about this game than Paul and Jordan tonight, LB. Not really sure what Doc -- or any coach -- does about the toxic environment that these contracts have created in the league, but it's here to stay so everyone better get used to teams "mailing it in" at the drop of a hat. Regular season = meaningless now.

Doc doesn't give a shit about this game, either.

it in a nutshell . Do enough to get team in playoffs and maybe pad own stats in a contract year. Not like any of these coaches are gonna bench big stars for half assing it.

Clippers are just doing what the C's used to do when Rivers was on the bench. They treated the regular season like a bunch of scrimmages. Never played for record or playoff position or anything else.

How many regular-season clunkers did Boston turn in when Rivers was in Boston? Too many to count.

if they fired every coach every time you lost your airbet, there would be no more coaches left in any sport.

It was an obvious ref job, all about ratings as I've said. They were not gonna let Clips go up 2-0 heading back to L.A. The longer the series last the more millions.

Exactly. Series would of been so tilted. Can't wait for the line for Game 3 with or without Paul.... and see the Public's reaction.

Vince McMahon's "Sports< Entertainment" model now drives everything and
major American team-sports "leagues" have stopped being leagues primarily and have become full-fledged business enterprises)

as people now betting WWE seriously know, capping storylines and marketing angles is just as/more important than capping the straight-up performance angles...

forgetting that the NBA, NFL, UFC, etc. are similarly "companies" and ignoring that these companies have interests to generate drama/controversy etc. to entertain us is a mistake as many have alluded to above

the "product" (games/matches/fights/etc.) themselves aren't directly choreographed, and most probably aren't DIRECTLY pre-determined...but "company" (aka. league) management does issue clear directives based far more on revenue-generating grounds than on competition-enhancing ones...and it is clearly made known by the company that controversy and long series full of frustrating "chokes" and "bad officiating" will work out better for everyone than a quick decisive exercise of one team(ie. company department)'s competitive edge...

what's important for the company is overall company revenue...there's plenty of inter-departmental (ie between-team) transfers to reward losing teams that "take one for the league" (ie. the business interests of the overall company)...so don't cry for the team that loses a heartbreaker to leave the season in a marketing "cliff hanger" carry-over to next season when restitution may be sought blablabla

think story arcs that companies may commit to or at least push for while the teams play their games and the season/playoffs unfold...with a constant eye towards the implications of everything to the "bottom line"

    ______________

Karl Marx said "religion is the opiate of the masses"...it's actually not organized religion at all anymore...it it mass media my friends...including the secondarily-competitive "sports" leagues that we still mistakenly compare with the ones that operated just a few decades ago...when they actually were competition-first sports leagues...not marketing-first companies like the NBA, NFL, UFC, etc. etc.
