I do like the Suns for the game at -6.5. They will run Houston out of Phoenix tonight. I think Yao gets wore down tonight chasing the Suns.

Well as I wrote in a different post, I'm syating way off of this game, but the way you are looking at it, as a game of two halves, is good. The chances that it unfolds with wild swings one way and the the other is greater than normal.

The only problem is, it's not clear which team will come out explosively first. Phoenix has been mailing it in recently, so will they come out in their funk again, or will they be prepared to sharpen up for Yao et al? And Houston is on a back-to-back.

If Phoenix doesn't blow out Houston in the 1H, it will be a good bet that they will in the 2H. So working this game as two halves I think is the right way to play it.

You could bet Phoe 1H, and if they don't cover, double up on them 2H, which is risky, but probably will have value.

Earlier in the season I played PHX 1H, and if that lost PHX 3Q for 2 units. This was very successful. But not anymore.

PHX has lost its way somewhat after a string of uninspiring opponents, and losing the close battle with Dallas for the number 1 spot (due to Nash injury). So the bet is really on whether or not Houston will inspire them enough to get back on track. It'd say it's 50/50, because it would be very tempting for PHX to look ahead at Dallas.

D'Antoni has been hammering on greater intensity for the past weeks. The results don't show it, but it has worked, to a degree. PHX has come out strong in the past games, only to get up by DD early and relax. That relaxation point has been the problem. Invariably, the opponent goes on a run of its own, but recently, unlike earlier in the season, PHX hasn't been able to find the higher gear again.

So I'm considering a 1Q bet on PHX.

Interesting, DH. Phoenix definitely is the most mercurial team in the NBA as far as intensity is concerned.

Their last 4 home games haven't really given any indication of any pattern at all, and Houston of course, is one of the most unpredictable teams in the NBA themselves, so I'm staying way the hell away from this one, but all this analysis is fascinating, hope you guys cash whatever you wind up playing.

Houston has lost 2 straight games vs the Suns, 1 at home and 1 in Phoenix. So there might be some revenge factor involved w/ this game. But I like the 1st half play, not for the whole game.

The Suns have called this week 'barometer week', because of four big games (after a string of easy opponents). So that's a pretty good indication their mental lapses will go down in number. Time to jump back on the Suns train?
