Kobe Bryant signs 2 year ext with Lakers

Going to be the longest tenured player with one team in the history of the NBA at 20 years.
No numbers out yet. Hopefully, nothing more than $15 million

The Lakers did not announce financial terms, but a source told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne that the deal is worth $48.5 million.

Bryant will remain the NBA's highest-paid player over the course of the extension, the source told Shelburne. The former league MVP will receive $23.5 million in the first year and $25 million in the second year of the extension, according to the source.

Bryant, who is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, will make over $30.4 million this season, the final year of his current contract with the Lakers.

Great news for the league. Love watching him play, good to know there's still another 3 seasons of it. Can hardly wait.

Jim Buss once again proving he is not qualified to run an NBA team...Robert Kraft would have amnestied him...so would Irsay....but the Lakers would rather keep the name brand in tact...so they can sell tickets...I get it...but the Lakers are finished until Lebron and Durant are out of the league...

Can't wait to see Kobe. The ultimate sports athlete. What more can you ask for. Completely marketable. Outside of the whole "raping white girls in Denver," he is the complete sports icon.

I think Lakers will get another big player to play alongside Kobe. Or maybe they can do it their old way/Nets way, sign a few old all-stars who are willing to take paycut to win a championship.

Melo is on his way there. Two over 30 injury prone chuckers. What else could go wrong?

    lol

    i could not be happier.

Lakers are now doomed for the foreable future.

please take note: that Kobe MADE SURE to get paid his $24M up front from this season,*
meaning that he was officially OFF the Lakers books..

    AND–––

that he signed this deal BEFORE he played a single game of "Torn-Achilles" basketball*
Kobe continues to screw that organization. over and over again..

Dwight Howard was 100% to bolt LA.

LA is still dreaming of a 28 yr. old Kobe*

i dont understand this type of extension esp since we havent even seen him play a single game
makes no sense because its basically saying kobe has 2-3 years left in his career
and the lakers are farrrrrrrrrrrrrrr from a title contender as it stand

nope, the lakers just run them out of town when they have outlived their usefulness (glen rice, shaq) or attempt to(odom, gasol) d12 was right to jump before he was pushed

So lets put this all in perspective....Lakers now have a 35 year old shooting guard fresh off a Torn Achilles making 78 million over the next three years... (30 million this season) plus the 48 owed to him for the next two years....LOL.....meanwhile, the MVP 3 out of the last 4 years...Lebron is making a third of that...and has won 2 rings in the process...what is wrong with this picture? and people hate Lebron? This is madness....

Kobe did not invite any team players to his wedding, chased Shaq out of town, raped a white woman, dropped Shaq's name to police, complained about Buss airplane accommodations to and from trial proceedings, then almost whined his way out of LA, until Buss got Jerry West to give him Pau Gasol for an undisclosed secret amount of cash under neath the table....

$$ Don't forget, at the end of the day its just business. Kobe = ticket sales/premiums like no ones business. BTW for you cappers this isn't fade material, Refs will be all over anyone who breathes on Kobe.

    No doubt

The best ship ever made was the Titanic. Largest, finest, and unsinkable. Outside of the whole "hitting an iceberg in the open ocean and sinking," it was the worlds complete ocean cruiser.

i can understand this if the lakers had a championship team for kobe to ride out his career
but this team is on the verge of being blown up
there is no chance that this current lakers team will win a title
signing him for that large of a contract severely hamstrings potential free agent signees
which superstar is gonna take a discount to play with an old kobe?

miami is what it is currently because they all took discounts to play together
honestly, is any1 on the heats roster being paid market rates?
almost every single free agent took a discount

youth is the answer, not old stars
they should wait till the good young guys like kyrie and lillard are free agents and make sure they have enough cap space to pay them
