    Pacers at Kings

    Pacers +4½ at Kings

    By: Ben Burns

The Pacers are the play this evening as road dogs. Back Indiana at the Sacramento Kings tonight.

We should see a highly motivated Indiana team tonight. In addition to trying to snap their losing streak, the Pacers will be attempting to avenge a 14-point home loss two weeks ago.

Both teams had the past two nights off and that may work in Indiana's favor. The Kings are 5-7 against the spread this season when playing with two day's rest while the Pacers are 10-2 against the spread (9-3 straight up) in that situation. Looking back further and we find Indiana at a highly profitable 28-11 against the spread the past three season's when playing with two day's rest in between games.

The Pacers won't have to deal with former teammate Ron Artest as he's been excused from the Kings following yesterday's arrest for suspicion of domestic violence. The Pacers were underdogs in last year's game here and they won by 25 points. That brought them to 4-2 against the spread their last six games here. Consider taking the points!

    Play: Pacers +4½

No Ron Artest? No problem! The Sacramento Kings still win and cover tonight at home against the Indiana Pacers.

Sacramento seems to do better against the Pacers without Ron Artest (the former Pacer) who will miss tonight's game following his most recent suspension.

Kevin Martin has stepped up and helped his team to a recent 3-game winning streak. The Kings are 5-5 in their last 10 games played and average 104 ppg at home. This team is 13-11 in non-conference matchups and are 17-12 at home overall.

The Pacers are on a 5-game losing streak with their last two losses on the road to Western teams, and have lost by double digits in four of their last five played. Indiana is averaging 94 ppg on the road and is 9-15 in non-conference games. It does not look promising for the Pacers today and expect a home win for the Kings.

    Predicted Score: Kings-105 Pacers-96

    Play: Kings -4½

    Indiana +4½ at Sacramento

Play the Pacers plus the points tonight when Indiana heads west to meet the Artest-less Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento is going to be without Ron Artest for awhile after his arrest for domestic violence.

Indiana is 6-2 against the spread their last 8 Tuesday games, while Sacramento is 3-8-1 against the spread in their last 12 home games. Indiana has been in a bit of a funk, but without Artest, this is the perfect opportunity to get back on track.

The Pacers are 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games after scoring less than 75 points in their previous game. Kings are 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games as a favorite of ½-4½, and are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games as a home favorite of ½-4½.

The underdog is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings. Artest is averaging 19 points/game and 7 rebounds/game. The Kings don't have anyone to make up for that kind of production. Take the points as the Pacers get back on track.

    Play: Pacers +4½

I like the Pacers, and a small Moneyline play may also be in order.

I find it helpful to read conflicting opinions like these. It brings some of the handicapping issues out in the open. Bravo and more of these kinds of consolidating posts SBRForumStaff.

I like Sacramento here. What has fallen apart for Indiana is their on-ball defense. Their help system doesn't work when there are so many blow-bys. Tinsley has been a tired defender the last few games, and doesn't figure to get well off a couple of days rest. Dunleavy and Muruphy have been tired perimeter defenders their whole career.

Sacramento without Artest is the perfect team to exploit the particular Indiana weakness. The image that stricks in the casual fans mind may be Bibby and Martin bombing away in the corner offense, but the team leads or is near the top of the League in free throw attempts as Martin is a slick penetrator and the bigs are pretty good interior passers. They should get a ton of FTA's against the Pacer's and if O'Neal gets in foul trouble Indiana will struggle to score.
