SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! Keep in mind guys that I WANT to win this thing myself, so you all better bring your "A" games to beat me!!

For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:


Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

GS has lost its last six home games by DD, and is three games into a road trip that leaves little doubt they've mailed it in for the season. Meanwhile, WAS has Jamison and Butler back. Some risk of uninspired play because of the 1 PM start.

Kentucky (+8.5?)
Florida is in disarray and really not ready to cover this number, in my opinion. They are obviously complacent, Horford and Richard are the only people playing defense right now, and Brewer and Humphrey have been dragging down the offense. The Cats would have won pretty easily at home if they had made any shots at all, as they outplayed the Gators in every other aspect, but they were only 3-22 from 3-point range. I love the way Meeks has been playing, and this is the type game that Tubby always has the boys ready to play, especially near tournament time.

Hornets (+1?)
I almost never play the NBA, and I will be furious at myself if this loses, but I really like this one. Utah is on a little road trip, and this should be a spot where the injuries catch up to them a little and they drop a road game. (It's hard for me to write much about the NBA, considering I don't know a lot about it, but I just like this situation)

Wizards -8? ---Yes Dark Horse, I am worried about the early tipoff. Who knows how that will affect Arenas. But, G.St does nothing for me. I'm making these picks when I shouldn't be.

Florida -8.5----I, got one, think that Florida will finally have that good all-around game. Laying 8.5 or so is bothersome, but I'm going to do it anyway. (Unless I change my mind before tip.

South Alabama -3.5? - South Alabama hasn't played well of late, losing 3 straight following a 13 game winning streak. Their poor play in that stretch only adds value in this spot. This game is a mismatch, and I expect SA to be highly motivated and regain their form from earlier in the season.

BC/Georgia Tech Over 143.5? - This game will be played at close to the same pace as the UNC/Tech game a few days ago. Both sides have plenty of scorers, and while BC doesn't like to run quite as much as Tech, they are more than capable of playing that way.

Chicago Bulls +2
This could be a trap gain, but I think Chicago will win outright by 5-8 points. Bucks have been playing better but Chicago is the better team.

Alabama +6.5
Take the points here as Alabama gets back on a role and gets ready for the tourney. They struggle at times, but should bounce back and cover against a middle road team.

UNC -9.5? While everyone else is on Duke give me UNC and the dough comes with it. UNC needs a big win to get "right" before heading into the postseason and who better to get it against than the overrated Dookies.

Miss St -6/6.5 You either lay the points or take Bama on the ML here. They either show up or lay a complete egg on the road with seemingly no middle ground. This will be one of those games they don't show up.

VCU -1.5 - Drexel is solid but has had trouble hanging with the elites of this conference. Very small line for VCU to cover.

LA Monroe +4.5 - At a neutral site, this game should be competitive throughout. N Texas has been a bit better on the road than Monroe, but in a neutral site in a tourney, I'll take the points with a roughly equivalent team talent-wise.

Bulls +1.5 and Chi/Mil under 197 - Chicago is 3-0 in the season series so far looking to sweep today. First 2 games they scored 110 and 117 points. In the third game, at Milwaukee, The Bucks tried to slow things down and it worked for 3 quarters. But the Bulls took a 4th quarter 6 point deficit and powered past the Bucks to win by 9 points.

Have to believe Milwaukee will try the same slow down strategy, but Bulls are too good for them this season. A slow pace in the early going dictated by Milwaukee, and a slow pace dictated by the Bulls late in the game once they've built a comfortable lead on the road.

Creighton +2Southern Illinois won both meetings this season but only by total of 5 points. I'm expecting this matchup to be another close one with Creighton pulling off the upset.

Duke +9.5The average margin of victory in the last 10 matchups is 5.5 points with the vistiting team winning 4 times. This rivalry always seems to come down to the final minute or second.

EASTERN MICHIGAN +5.5: Yes Northern Illinois is home, but this is still a 6-22 SU team that has no business being this mush of a favorite over ANYONE. The Huskies even have a losing 4-8 SU record here at home, where they are just 3-7 ATS. Eastern Michigan is actually playing decent ball right now, going 5-1 ATS and 4-2 SU in the last six games including a perfect 3-0 ATS on the road. This includes outright EMU victories at Bowling Green and Central Michigan.

UL MONROE +4.5: Despite being the underdog in this contest, UL Monroe is actually the higher seed in this tournament, finishing one game ahead of North Texas in the conference standings at 12-7. The Indians are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall regardless of the venue, and they pulled off a mil upset of UNT during the regular season, so we look for them to take this game to the wire. Now UNT did win 20 games this season, but the Eagles have been overvalued in conference play all year and thus finished with a losing 11-12 ATS mark. Finally, although this game is being played at the home of UL Lafayette, one has to assume that Monroe with get most of the crowd support here.

Eastern Michigan +5.5 They showed Friday that they're still playing hard (eliminating 13 pt deficit and OT win) and N Ill is the worst team in the MAC, I'll take the pts.

Arkansas St -2.5 I'll take the better team on a neutral floor with this small a number. They beat NO by 11 in their only meeting this year.

Old Dominion -4.5: Old Dominion has won 11 straight games and finished 2nd in the CAA with a 15-3 mark, including two wins against George Mason. George Mason, off last year's final four appearance finished at just 9-9 in conference play and their season should end today.

Drexel +1.5: Drexel lost to Virginia Commonwealth the first time they played this year, but they should get the win today. Drexel has won 4 in a row including an upset win at Creighton, and they should advance to the finals of the CAA tournament today.

Akron vs. Kent State under 141: Kent State is 0-10 over/under this season at home. They rarely top the 140 mark, doing so twice this season. Akron can score but believe the under is the right play.

NOK +1.5 Taking the points at home against a team on its third game of a road swing. NOK needs this game worse than Utah as they are battling for the last spot in the West.

NOK/Utah over 197 - I have this game at 196 which I like better but I still think they clear 197. Utah gives up over a hundred on the road and NOK is averaging over a hundred at home in their last several games.
