Basketball Parlay of the Day - Tuesday, 2/20/07

Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will do the standings for the month of February at least.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

OKLAHOMA +3: While we realize that Oklahoma is not the best of road teams, we do not trust Missouri as a favorite in this spot either. The Tigers have been burning money inside the conference for a couple of years now, going just 7-17-1 ATS in their last 25 Big 12 games. This is also a big revenge spot for the Sooners, as Missouri went into Norman last season and upset Oklahoma 71-69 as a 12-point underdog. We think that the Sooners return the favor here with a mild upset.

TEXAS TECH +6.5: This has been a Visitors series with the road team going 8-2 ATS in the last ten head-to-head meetings, and we look for a desperate Texas Tech team to continue that trend here. The Red Raiders are just 17-10 on the season, putting them on the proverbial NCAA bubble. However, Tech is getting hot at the perfect time, going 3-0 ATS in the last three games including an outright road upset of Texas A&M and a narrow 93-91 triple overtime loss at Oklahoma State. Now the Longhorns are a dismal 1-4 ATS in their last five contests, and we look for the Raiders to give them all that they can handle here.

Think I'm going to change my posting name to Even Steven...

...also not going to think about tonight's parlay too much and just fade LT

    Missouri -3 vs Oklahoma
Stefhon Hannah rips it up tonight for the Tigers, enjoys 22+ points. OU with 5-point halftime lead, but Longar Longar is stifled in second half and Mizzou wins, 64-60.

    Texas -6½ vs Tortilla Tech
Both schools screw me royally whether I bet on them or against them. Not sure how that mojo will come out when they're playing each other. Another double-double for Kevin Durant, Horns win by a 70-62 count.

Those were two of the three plays I was really looking at, LT. Only other lean I had was West Va at Providence.

Sorry that I have probably doomed your choices since I regularly go 1-1 in this little exercise.

    Wisconsin -2

I love road favorites of 2 or less that I believe are the superior team. Somehow I've been fairly successful picking like this all season. Tonight I see Wisconsin as the superior team. Michigant St. needs this game, but I don't think they'll have enough to overcome the talent of the Badgers.

    Missouri -3

Oklahoma is 1-5 as a dog this season. I like Missouri by atleast 5 at home tonight.

    Texas -6.5
My horns have a brutal stretch to close out the season, and really need this game. Augustin has been playing exceptional as of late, protecting the ball better and playing better perimeter D. Durant will get his, but Augustin will be the key. If Abrams can hit the wide open shots that he's sure to get, then I think Texas comes out with a win and a cover. They'll get out-coached, but I think Texas realizes that they really need this win. To be honest, I thought this line would be more like -4.5 and I'll be waiting, hoping to get this at -6. I may even be teasing it down, but for the purposes of this little game, I'll roll with them at -6.5. 76-67

    MSU +2.5
This is a complete hackjob by me. The only reason I'm even touching this game is because Razz and Buddy have so much confidence in MSU tonight. Personally, i think Wisconsin wins by 7+, but I'm actually going to fade myself on this one. the difference between +1.5 and +2.5 is huge in this one, and I will be waiting for it to hit 3---coming soon, at least on allpro.com---where it's currently Wisc -2.5 (-120). Not my favorite book, but if it hits 3, all the better. I can't believe I'm actually playing this game on the other side now.

Wichita St. -1.5: Wichita St. has been very inconsistent this year, but they should get revenge against Missouri St. tonight for their loss earlier this year.

Bradley -7: N. Iowa has lost 5 games in a row and not playing near their level earlier in the season. Bradley has won 3 in a row and is looking for revenge for their loss in December.

u194.5@NY Doesn't take much to shut the Magic down on the road, and Knicks were stellar defensively at home in the weeks before the break.

u226@SEA Back to the well with the Griz under. MEM is out of sync, burdened by trade talks, and hasn't cracked 105 on the road in regulation yet in 2007.

    NBA
    Phoenix -5.5
Suns have lost 3 in row w/o Nash. Nash will play and will cover tonight night game against sad disappointed LAC teams this seasons. E. Brand won't be effect tonigth with back problem.

    Detroit -4
Pistons are 11-4 run . They had a seven-game winning streak snap losing to the Spurs. M. Redd is still out, Milwaukee have no chances if he is not playing tonight.

Bradley: 11-2 ATS at home after winning 4 of their last 5 games

    Texas -6.5
Texas: 11-3 ATS at home after playing as a favorite

UNLV -3 : Simple - Air Force is overrated, UNLV underrated. Air Force has also struggled somewhat on the road, with a bad loss at Utah, and getting blown out at SDSU a few weeks back. UNLV looking to avenge a hard fought loss to AF earlier in the season, and although an at-large bid is likely, a win here would guarantee a spot in the tourney.

Creighton -2.5 : I see a lot of value in Creighton tonight. They have struggled recently, losing 2 of 3, which makes this line closer than the 4-5 it would normally be. Coming off a disappointing loss at home against Drexel, I think the Blue Jays will come out extremely motivated against an inferior opponent and prove that they are still one of the top 2 teams in the MVC.

NASH IS BACK... who can bet against the best team in the NBA? Not me. The Clippers are 1-7 against the spread on Tuesday nights this year. LA is 4-16 against the spread this year after a non-conference game. The Clippers are 6-18 against the spread this year when playing against a team with a winning record. Everything says Phoenix.

    Notre Dame -6.5
DePaul is 0-6 against the spread in road games when playing against a good team with a winning percentage between 60% and 80% after 15 or more games over the last two seasons. DePaul is going down in these games by an average of 12.1 points per game. The smart play here is to take the points with the IRISH!!!

    glad I faded myself

Also, one reason I love this thread. I ended up throwing a nice size wager on this parlay, simply to back up this thread's pick. Otherwise, I would've just bet each side (which I also did) and never even would've thought about parlaying the two. Great evening for a lot of us tonight. In fact, I'm starting a thread.
