Think Larry Bird can still shoot?

According to Paul George he can:

SLAM: I believe you had talked about seeing Larry shoot in the gym.

    PG:
He picked a ball up that had rolled over. He rolled up his sleeves and made about 15 in a row and just walked out like nothing just happened. It was the craziest thing I've seen.

SLAM: How did you and the rest of the team react?

    PG:
We were speechless. We didn't know whether to keep shooting or just to end practice. It was sweet, man.

    LOL

Agreed...I think everyone has heard of the story when Bird walked into the locker room before the 3-point contest and asked everyone there..."who was coming in second?"

Bird was sweet. Slow, no hops, ugly shot, but you couldn't stop the guy.

Bird also gets me free sodas when I hit Arbetter's . Just tell the guys behind the counter you're a Bird fan and they'll hook you up.

How many games in the NBA do you think a team consisting of Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing can win next season? I'd bet you they can easily win 25 games at 50 years old.

Still there, brotha. The chili dogs/fries are good.

Obviously they haven't changed the decor in the last few decades.

Sure, why not. Not in a game, but uncontested in a gym, I'm sure.

As crazy as it would be too watch, they wouldn't win any games. Probably keep a few close, but the serious lack of speed at the defensive end would mean speedy little fukcers like Ty Lawson would be putting up 50 and they would get murdered on the break. Every team would just play like Phoenix against them. On a more probable note - MJ would probably still be able to beat 30-40% of the current NBA players 1 on 1. He regularly plays against the young Bobcats kids. Of course they are the Bobcats haha...

They won't get killed on the break because their strength is shooting. I'm expecting them to shoot 75% from the field and earn lots of FT's. Not many chances for opposing teams to get on the break.

I played HS basketball and had offers to play D2 but played football instead. I often play against HS, College and NBA players, many that come to Houston to practice in the off season. 25 years later, I'm a bit slower but I can still carry my own against some real good players. I've also seen several exNBA guys come in and still ball. They may not be able to play a back to back but I don't think it would be as bad as many of you are making it. Now I know Bird had back problems that stopped his career but I'd take him easily today in a one game pick up if he was healthy over half these guys playing right now.
