MJ promotes brother Larry Jordan to Bobcats President of Player Personnel

He also promoted his son and daughter within the organization.

Larry Jordan, gonna make all the difference for the Bobcats, phenom of a talent scout. Lmao

I don't think he does. Think about it, where does he make money?

-Tickets are probably dirt cheap, and even if not, there's barely any significant amount of people attending
-I doubt they have any half-decent TV deals that bringing in money
-Probably the least sold stuff in NBA merchandise store
-Brand has no real appeal/value, so I doubt he's minting anything off licensing

I know a lot of owners say they are losing money, Micky Arison being one of them, but I find that hard to believe. Deadspin posted those finical records of MLB teams and they were all making money.

I don't see good business people (I'm not putting Jordan in this category) invest in a professional franchise and continually lose money. I'm sure, in some way, Jordan is making good cash on this team.

I don't think Jordan will have anything to worry about today, tomorrow, or the days after......

Jordan earned an estimated $80 million last year from corporate partners Nike, Gatorade, Hanes, Upper Deck, 2K Sports, Presbyterian Healthcare and Five Star Fragrances. Other Jordan assets include six restaurants, a North Carolina car dealership, a motorsports team and his 80% stake in the Charlotte Bobcats. Jordan out-earns almost every member of the world’s highest-paid athletes 10 years after his last NBA game (Floyd Mayweather topped Forbes June 2012 list with earnings of $85 million).

That would be great, Seattle deserves to have a NBA team.

Jordan bought the Bobcats for $175 million and it now worth $315 million. Operating losses are part of the cat/mouse game, which is probably why he's hiring family to look like he's cutting cost. If he loses 20 million a year, he can just write it off the $85 million he'll make during the year. Who else do you know who can make $140 million in a few short years???

Most all NBA teams post annual losses but some of the accounting doesn't add up. You never see all the profits and losses in one place. They may leave off TV revenue or concessions or depreciating assets. With the new CBA these teams will make hand over foot, especially as the NBA is about to hit a huge growth spurt in popularity. Jordan may suck at evaluating talent but he hit the lotto on this purchase.

He had a win today with the board of governors approving the name change to Hornets. The value of the team will go up again now.

Tons of businesses operate in the red on purpose, including and especially sports teams. Better yet, these businesses are sold and the new owners assume the debt. Creative accounting
