Phil Jackson Is the Most Overrated Coach In The History of Sports!

Guy is such a joke. He had Kobe and Jordan in there prime. Alot of coaches would of won championships with those guys. Everyone talks about how great he is but the guy is a fake. Who else agrees with me?

del harris and doug collins would beg to differ.

i used to think he was a mercenary who would come and lead them over the final hump but not after his 2nd stint with the lakers. he inherited a lottery team and led them to the finals in 3 seasons.

I use to feel the same way about Jackson. But honestly... I use to study a few of the games he use to coach... after momentum went the other teams way... he called a timeout. When play continued after the timeout... the Lakers came out like an amazing team. I think Jackson is a good mind reader... it was just destiny that he had Jordan and Kobe. Bottom line is... he's a Champion... and I don't think he even cares what his critics think. Personally... he's just a real savvy individual.

Used to feel that way myself, but then you have to acknowledge that Phil took two of the games biggest ego's of all time, in Jordan and Kobe, and molded them into what he thought would result in a championship....and the biggest example of that was Kobe 07, who wanted to be traded....Phil comes back wins 2 out of 3 finals....no other coach would have been able to get Pau and Kobe on the same page...nobody....just look what happened to Brown and D'Antoni....

Most teams in the NBA would (rightly) love to have Phil Jackson as their coach today.

He's a great coach, I think most coaches would of won 7-8 NBA titles instead of Phils 11.

must agree. Jordan pursues MLB for two years.---- NO Finals appearances.

SHAQ leaves Lakers (Kobe) NO- Finals appearances untoil he gets TWO 7-Footers in there... and not just two.. guys..
two EXCELLENT PLAYERS at that time.

Lol gasol got swept in the first round 2-3 times.
bynum is a loser, always was. barely even played in the first finals run you fool. sat his ass on the bench.

shaq leaves lakers and then joins the 2nd best player in the league (wade). wins number 4. never wins again after that.

goat boy actually makes a good point. gasol went 0-12 in post-season before joining the lakers. as bad as jordan's 1-9 prior to pippen.

people act like gasol saved the lakers season but they were already 15 games over .500 with kwame at center.

having great players isnt enough to win, you still have to manage those egos, especially 2 big ones in Rodman and Kobe. Phil kept them in check and won. Not just any coach could do that. Have to give a lot of credit there

I used to how people would put him up like he was this amazing coach.
But now I see the Miami Heat's coach, and that guy is a joke.
I believe Jackson was a good coach, and even better manager. He had a system and he knew what players he needed to make his system work great. I think a lot of coaches don't have systems and they just try and get high profile players and then look stupid when their team isn't any better.

it's just kinda funny that Phil only won when he had the very best team in the NBA. He's no genius.
Just a very, very fortunate coach.
