    Doc Rivers... Overrated?

This guy is highly regarded at top 3 coach in the NBA, he has Pierce, Garnett, Jeff Green and a couple solid role players and can't even hold on to a 20 pt lead at home?

Pierce/Garnett are old, yes, but they can still play. Their defense versus Anthony is pathetic, the guy CANT pass, bring a double team or some type of help... Then their offense is let Jeff Green fire up last second fade-a-ways when you have one of the best closers in game - in Pierce?

Have to blame the coaching if they get swept.

Terry comes to double Anthony and he folds under pressure because he can't pass...

    It really isn't hard.

They ARE missing their all star point guard who is a triple double machine in the playoffs. If Rondo was playing this would have been a great series.

I think he might be overrated if you're looking at basketball 101. But Rivers is much more than that. He is an amazing leader who has proved time and time again that he knows how to fire guys up. He probably understand concepts of psychological leadership and things like that better than anyone else in the league, or at least it looks like it. So I wouldn't say he's overrated as a coach in general, but I will agree sometimes he makes some strange decisions basketball wise.

He's my favorite coach though, by far.

No blame Ainge for being an idiot and NOT updating this roster to adjust to the aging stars...instead he just goes and signs Jason Terry who's 35

Age and talent should not reflect coaching ability. No Doc Rivers is not overrated. IMO the top three active coaches are Popovich, Rivers, and idk probably George Karl. Good coaching is about GETTING THE MOST OUT OF THE TALENT YOU HAVE. Karl's team does not necessarily have any legitimate superstars, but he has them work hard every night because as a great coach, HE GETS THE MOST OUT OF THEM. Popovich's Spurs are always a well oiled machine. As for Doc, there is only so much you can do when your younger superstar is out and the rest of your guys are old as Hell. Here is an example of a bad coach IMO, Erik Spolstra. This guy looks clueless on the sidelines and he wins because he has extremely dominant players are the team.

Oh yeah, I am a Knicks fan and even I can give Rivers a ton of dap.

Fact: Doc Rivers outcoached Phil Jackson twice in the finals with half the talent on his roster...would've gone 2-0 if Perkins didn't get hurt in the second finals matchup. Does the truth hurt?

Phil couldn't even get Kobe (in his prime) to outplay a fat, slow, Paul Pierce.

P.S. I hate the Celtics and like the Lakers.

Doc is probably the main reason that KG decided to return this year

it wasn't until Rondo got hurt that this team started cashing betting tickets....kudos to Doc for that

.....also, kudos to op with the genius thread title knowing it would draw the flies

Now you may officially be the dumbest poster on this forum. By your logic let's just let a mentally handicapped person coach, let's say the Heat. The Heat would not win for the simple fact that this handicapped coach would hold the final decision and he would not know when to rest players. He/she would be fired in mere days.

There is a reason Coach K and Saban keep their jobs. They are winners. If everyone thought like you, every single sports program would have a new coach every single year and would expect to win every single game every single year. You sir, are a true dumbass and a poor example of a proper troll.
