Bill Simmons addressed it in that great article he wrote on PEDs a while back

People saying they can't see the use of them in the NBA are crazy.

Look at the schedule. You think gaining an advantage in your body's ability to recover wouldn't help you during the grind of a season?

PEDs don't simply make some one look like Queen Mayan.

The only real use I could see in basketball is endurance but I think the majority of the league is probably clean as far as PEDs. Weed is another story but who cares.

I've worked out with people that have used PEDs and have a pretty good knowledge of them. If players are using them in the league, it's most likely for endurance purposes.

Lebron's physique doesn't look like someone on roids. He just looks like a big black man with great genetics other than his hair line.

It's not like Kobe is really buff either. He has a rather lean physiques and looks like someone who has been playing basketball for a living 16 straight years.

Look at Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Do those guys look like they are on roids? I realize you don't have to be huge to be on something (Lance Armstrong) but I don't see all the freakish veins popping out of these guys like you would with all the sknny cyclists that were on them.
This is how "fans" are blinded.
    Steroids != bodybuilder bodies.

Look at Lebron in HS and Now. So a receding hair line is not a sign of anything at an early age?

Have you seen all that people in sports that have been caught on steroids, their bodies all looked weaker than Lebrons....

You can take great stuff like anavar that adds strength/lean mass without adding any bulk/size.
Every kid out of college is told he needs to get bigger and strong. Yet strength does not matter in the NBA?

Look at Jordan in North Carolina, he looked like a starving Ethiopian....

Then a few years later he gains 30-40 lbs of lean muscle....

We all know Jordan would take ANYTHING to get a competitive edge or at least try it.

They are all on steroids. Every one of them. Michael Jordan definitely did steroids in my opinion. Lost his fukkin hair and his head became the size of a fukkin watermelon, just like Barry bonds did.

Nobody's saying that PED's don't help basketball players. They would help any athlete in any sport. And for that reason alone, I believe they're being used in the nba. But to say they are going to help a basketball player to the same extent they help a baseball player is ignorant. There is a reason baseball players are the biggest culprits.

and k13, I dunno about you but i know multiple people from HS that now have receding hairlines, also known as male baldness pattern. He'll some of them had receding hairlines IN HS.

So why is everyone on Barry Bond's nuts about it?

That was almost 10 years. He could have just worked out...

Shaq was big and ripped in College, he just got fat later.
Ewing was never that skinny in college and not that huge in the NBA.

I knew guys that began receding hairlines IN HIGH SCHOOL. I think Archie was amongst this group as well.

Fortunately, I was blessed with a glorious head full of thick, lustrous hair. Even at 43, I've yet to see any of my beautiful hair disappearing down the shower drain.

yeah baseball is pretty much absent from skills that you might need 5-6 years to develop in the minor leagues before hitting the pros.

Basketball on the other hand is a sport where in the past 2 decades many very very very devoted players aquired all the skills they needed to play at a high level in a professional league by 18-19 years of age using jr high and High School ball to hone their craft.

people will naturally fill out their bodys when they enter their 20's
regardless if u work out or not
so to add on muscle on top of the natural weight is not hard to pick up 30-40 lbs over the years
shaq and ewing were both thin in college compared to their nba body

Shaq was already 300 lbs in college.

Yes it is that easy to just "pick up" 30-40 lbs over the next few years just "filling out". Go ahead and try it.
It's easy if 30 lbs of that is fat.

shaq prolly was 300 in college, definately not 300 in the nba
this is stemming from ur comment about jordan picking up 30-40 lbs of muscle
if hes coming out of college thin, its not out of the ordinary to pick up that much muscle mass over the years
but i really doubt jordan added 40lbs in the nba from his college weight

    LeBron isn't on anything.

    Igoudala is another story.

These guys weight-train and eat strict diets in summer/off season.

No one is bulging out of a jersey with lean muscle, I'll say that.

But for recovery time, Kobe is looking ALOT younger.

No, Workout with guys on Human Growth, Test, Steroids... etc. These guys look jacked, lean muscle jacked. Not just a bulk diet (Shaq/Ewing) Those guys were forced to take in 6,000 + calories a day after college, NBA nutritionists are no joke.

Just b/c some one gained 30-45 lbs doesn't mean they are on PEDs.

Magic is abusing the PED known as soul food, just like Shaq or Barkley.

Some dudes don't even weight train at all (or at least not seriously) before coming into the NBA. Genetic freak Dwight Howard said he didn't focus on it much until after his first season.

Durant couldn't bench 185lbs at the combine.

Brute strength in basketball means little without finesse or technical ability. Everyone is still hung up on PEDs meaning "hulking muscular idiot."

I could see PEDs being abused for recovery but most casual fans probably don't care unless there's a huge scandal. They want to see their favorite players play.

In the May 16th issue of ESPN the Magazine, Derrick Rose was asked:

"On a scale of 1 to 10, how big of an issue is illegal enhancing in the NBA?"
Derrick Rose: " Seven. It's huge and I think we need a level playing field where nobody has that advantage over the next person."

So far, only middling types like Don MacLean, O.J. Mayo, and Rashard Lewis have been suspended because of testing positive for this stuff.

they def. use them ... helps you recover for the next game and play fresher ... (lance armstrong) ... soccer players are using them as well

The Portugese defender, Abel Xavier, has become the first Premiership footballer to be suspended after he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. An 18-month worldwide ban was imposed on the defender that also cleared the way for Middlesbrough to cancel his £25,000-a-week one-year contract.

the ones that test positive are the stupid ones

... Serena Williams went into total lockdown last week -- fleeing to a panic room inside her L.A. mansion after security cameras picked up a suspected intruder ... but it was all a case of mistaken identity.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Serena's assistant called 911 around 6AM last Wednesday, reporting a possible burglar or prowler. It was so serious, we're told Serena retreated to her panic room for safe keeping in case things got dangerous.

But we're told, it was a false alarm -- the person on Serena's security camera was a random drug tester for an unspecified tennis association, stopping by Serena's pad unannounced for some pee.

Police rushed to the scene after the 911 call, but quickly figured out the mistake. It's unclear if Serena eventually submitted to a pee test. Attempts to reach her reps were unsuccessful.

Lebron, Dwight Howard, and worthless centers are the guys using roids....Not really a big deal.....Jump-shooters wont fk with it because when your arms get too big it fks your shot up.
I don't think Shaq ever did roids......He always battled weight problems, and when he was in college his body wasn't even done growing.
