    If Vince Carter had Shaq and was playing with the Lakers

    I think we would of had 4 rings by now and being mentioned in the Jordan conversation. Still can't believe he wasted all that talent or was unfortunate to be in all those crappy teams through the years in the East.

    Nah. Vince didn't have mental makeup to be a winner and Shaq would've lost interest in a ring after 1 without someone like Kobe pushing him and taking some of spotlight. Vince was great for a stretch but went out like a punk in Toronto and never really recovered.

    Actually if Vince and T-Mac stayed together in Toronto I think that duo would of been to several NBA finals and probably one won or two like Pippen/Jordan. The drive to compete was their early because he was the heir apparent to take over Jordan spot, not Kobe. Kobe had to win a NBA finals just to finally take that Jordan comparison away from Vince Carter. Had Vince won a NBA Championship early in his career, I think he would of been a different player, plus he would of had Phil Jackson pushing him. I don't think he really cared once he got to the Nets. Kobe is a very hard off season working player that's why he's so great, but we never really know about Vince since he never got that early taste of how it's like to win it all.

    This is why we are seeing and will see Lebron, elevating to new levels we haven't seen in any of his time in Cleveland.

    You could say they same about mello, tmac, iverson, ect.... Put any of them on all those laker teams that Kobe has had, and they would have 4 rings minimum

    Any quality shooting guard could have won titles with Shaq's Lakers back around 2000 (assuming the refs are still going to penetrate over Sacramento). Shaq was so dominant back than and Kobe was his sidekick.

    However there is a 0.0% chance Carter would have won the second time around with Gasol. You are right about Carter's physical gifts, but you need to understand that it takes more than that to win titles year after year. Kobe's drive to succeed is absurd. Carter never had what it takes mentally.

    Vince had maybe his most complete years with the Nets. He wasnt dunking like crazy but showed a more refined game.


    Problem is they had jason collins playing center, and no bench to speak of. Amazing they even made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs at all.

    Not a single one of those fukks are nearly as complete of a basketball player as Kobe. None can play defense at near the same level as Kobe did during those championship years. None had the inner drive to win that Kobe has always possessed.

    That's certainly possible. VC was an amazing athlete. One thing about Jerry Buss was he knew how to put together championship teams. Maybe that's why VC was never in LA.

    absolute nonsense. He played with Kidd in Jersey when Kidd was still solid. Lets not forget Kidd took much less talented teams to back to back NBA finals before. Carter doesn't have the will and urgency needed to be a winner and its a shame. Also lets not forget about VC's time in Orlando as well, Magic thought Hedo was a better fit instead of VC. Carter will be remembered for his dunks and he is definitely overhyped and even though I don't think he deserves it eventually he will be in the hall of fame.
