ESPN: "It's official: the Lakers are a BUST"

No team has gone winless in the preseason and made it to the NBA Finals.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/gametra...season-winless

Preseason doesn't count. That's an obvious truth. The standings reset. But the Lakers went 6-2 in the 2008-09 and 2009-10 preseasons, then went on to win championships. And only one team to finish under .500 in the preseason has won a championship in the past 11 seasons, the 2-3 San Antonio Spurs in 2007.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...eason/1659747/

Looks like we are all agreed:

if anybody think that this group is going to be the only team ever to pull this off....
then please just waste your time... but don't bet on it.*

Even if they have everyone signed...next year would be even harder for them, the year after even harder.

Lakers getting older and OKC getting better and reaching closer to their prime. Not to mention Miami is going to be even a bigger pain in the ass as they win more rings.

So basically, yeah Lakers never were winning one this year and they won't be in the near future either. All a hype.

lol.. man that trade was suicide.. and to think that Kupchak knocked himself out to make it happen...
two 1st Rounders.. + two 2nd Rounders.. that is a very good bench if draft well. 4 young players, for a 40 yr. old guy in a yr.

wow. one of the all-time gaffes.

    completely agreed.
Beating OKC had to happen last year..
because those guys are only improving. They will be devastating in 1-2 yrs.

Lebron and Durant are this decade's Magic and Bird...
(won 8 out of 10 Championships that decade.)
and NO. the Lakers ARE NOT the Houston Rockets
that squeaked in for the remaining two. Way to old for that.

I disagree with your assessment of the Lakers and preseason. It is meaningless. Im sure I could throw together any number of meaningless statistics that no team has overcome to win a championship..
But to clarify. Houston won their two championships when Jordan was retired, nothing to do with Magic

How much sleep do u really lose everynight fantisizing about the Lakers losing?? Do u have any idea how unhealthy it is to have your life revolve around the Lakers losing?? The last 13+ yrs must have been tourture for you?? Did u actually shed a tear watching the Lakers hang banner after banner??

    lol.. this rules..

it is no longer 'my assessment'–
that was two months ago when the trades happened.. it is already happening.

but you are correct about Rockets,..
the Rockets went to the Finals twice in the 80's and lost ('81 and '86)
    i meant 76ers in '83, and Pistons '89
    (good eye)

Its also comical how afraid u are of Steve Nash. Everyday, over & over showing how little u know how certain NBA teams do things differenty depending on their situations.
The Lakers don't rely on draft picks, haven't for yrs. That's the way it works when your window is closing & your franchise has money. You trade your young guys for established veterans. Use the free agent market. Trade low end picks. Fill needs. That's the way it works when in win now mentality. You don't stockpile draft picks, especially back end 1st rounders & 2nd rounders. Figure it out pal~

The Lakers have struggled for yrs @ the point. They had no shot, nor cap space for a young dominate, franchise changing pg. So their option is to trade low end draft picks that don't fit into the win now stradegy or they go w/ Steve Blake or Ramon Sessions <---------lolololol.
The fact that u think it was suicide to go w/ the Nash option over the Blake/Sessions option further illistrates you cluelessness about how win now teams like the Lakers operate.

Is there anything the Lakers have done that u agree with or are every single one of their deciscions wrong simply because of your hatred & jealousy for them??

i said they would suck and they do. Draft picks are for building a good bench.
Every game the bench gets killed. I don't like the "instant championship" mentality because usually fails.

Lakers are a massive 'fail' this season, and next year, and again the year after that.

with the Lakers showing 0-8, i am afraid that your position is somewhat indefensible.
(at least until they are posting a .666 win percentage)

at the moment they are .000

Lakers are finished. Period. traded away all those picks for nuthin'

    k0bie going out like A-Rod...

highest paid player in league.. whose salary killed his team. *

basically this season , the Lakers are the hilarious Yankies of this post-season... set records across the board..
LOWEST ALL-TIME batting average for a team that played at least 7 games..
CC Sabathia.. giving up 11 hiTS before recording 11 outs.. only pitcher MLB post-season history with that gem.

Lakers are going out in a very similar fashion.. HIGHEST payroll NBA..
and a complete belly-flop in front of the entire world...

should be awesome, really.. can't wait.

i must confess, i enjoyed this MLB post-season more i think than any other..
Yankies going 0-4 was just too hilarious..

my fave moment was Swisher in 12 inn..
watches the ball go right thru his glove,.. then rolls like it was a tough play.
allowing the Tigers to go ahead..

Yanks never led in that series.. Not once. Kinda like this year's Lakeshow should be.

my prediction is that, as k0bie reads the writng on the wall, will continue to feign injury,
so that the blame falls on somebody else..

he was in for the first 6 losses, then mysteriously injured for last two, he knew it was coming

    A. This has nothing to do with the Yankees. Baseball and Basketball are two totally different sports. Baseball is a individual sport that puts on the facade of actually being a team sport. Basketball is a true team sport.

    B. Kobe Bryant is the fukking Man. He's so good its ridiculous. You may not think so but show me ONE SINGLE PLAYER in the NBA thats says Kobe is not at least in the top 5 players in the league. Kobe is compared to Jordan. Do you realize what that means? He's compared to the best player ever. He might be the best player ever. He has several rings. He's a fukking monster. Nash is easily one of the best point guards in the league.

Now Kobe is faking injuries so a pre season loss gets blamed on somebody else.....lol

And a guy that finished 2nd in the league in assists last yr is "nothing".....lol

Rat....2nd round draft picks arent used by championship contenders to 'build a bench'.....That's what rebuilding teams do pal. Championship contenders use those very same 2nd round draft picks to trade to the rebuilding teams for established players to fill their bench/needs. That's what the Lakers did. Lakers aren't building for the future, they are trying to win this yr.
It's your worst nightmare that the Lakers are building for the championship NOW. It's hilarious how that infuriates you. You so desperately want the Lakers to use draft picks & spend yrs developing those guys so that when they are ready Kobe will be on brink of retirement.....lol....Sorry that's not the way it works for the elite teams.

Just relax, sit back & prepare to get pissed on one last time. Don't worry Kobe will be done soon & then you can go back to a normal sleep schedule rather than staying UP all night sweating the Lakers, desperately wishing they would fail. It's out of your control, just take it like a man.

What gives the Lakers the best chance to win now??

    A) Steve Blake & a couple 2nd rounders
    B) Steve Nash

    99.9 % say option B
    Rat say's option A

I really don't understand why NBA owners aren't beating Rats door down offering him GM jobs. Obviously, moving Kobe to the bench & starting Steve Blake over Steve Nash is the right move. Why cant NBA GM's figure this out??

Hmmm...Thats kind of a big spread. I think they win but might not cover. I just placed my first pre season wager and hit a 3 way parlay. S.A, Den, Dallas. Hopefully this means good things are to come this season.

they are so done.. it was aso obvious.. even when the trades were made

i know that being a fan is intoxicating, and looking forward to that big buzz again..

    but they had no chance...

they are bottom 3 team in league.. yet most expensive starting 5*

Kupchak trade 6 draft choices (four 1st Rounders and two 2nd rounders)
    for this..

all the fool Laker fans arew getting revenge for their team sucking..

    "don't get carried away, son"

    READ THESE POINTS:

    1) they were huffing and puffing in the 2nd Half,
    2) and it is only the 11th game in..
    3) they have played the last 6 games AT HOME, sleeping in their own beds (no travel)
    4) Brooklyn has "ONE" ALL-STAR/OLYMPIAN.. not THREE, or TWO.. like the HEAT, THUNDER, CLIPPERS
    5) they barely pulled this out... against a SINGLE All-Star...
    AT HOME....TOTALLY RESTED>>

what the hell are they gonna do after 82 Games... against a team that is TWICE as strong as the NETS?

they will lose. That's what they will do.

your pts are all ridiculously invalid.

    1) they went from a slow princeton offense to a run and shoot just a week ago. so it will take some time to adjust.

2 & 3)they are missing their top 2 point guards so playing more mins and have to work harder for pts

4 & 5) nets were the hottest team in nba, winners of 5 in a row. they have 2 all stars in deron williams and joe johnson. lopez is playing at an all star level. they also have a great bench, which lakers severely lack. so beating them was no easy task.

Lakers are ranked #7 on Sagarin's Power Rankings, not sure how even the BIGGEST Laker's hater can say that they are bottom three in the NBA. Lakers are an above average team and climbing.
