Vegas is expecting a bloodbath tomorrow. Can USA Mens team cover -55 on Tunisia tomorrow?

USA should be up by 25-30 points at halftime. We'll see alot of Harden,Davis,Love,Westbrook,Iguodala the last 2 quarters. Don't think that they will cover that huge spread. USA by 40-45 points.

So you think USA 1st half is the play once they come out with a line ? I think the USA 2nd unit can still outclass Tunisia and maybe cover that game spread don't you think ?

if usa outscores them by 13 every quarter still short of covering. If it is 15 every quarter, backdoor cover by Tunisia is still well within reach.

So what do you think of USA 1st half?

Looking back at 2010 historical performance, USA had a sleepy first half against Tunisia, but they turned it on in the 2nd half. Here's what I got:

    1st half: USA 39, Tunisia 33
    FINAL: USA 92, Tunisia 57

USA outscored Tunisia by a measly 6 in the first half, and by 35 in the 2nd half. 1st half bettors would have gotten stung in 2010.

The 2012 squad is a lot better I'd say since you now have Kobe & Lebron on the squad as well. Kevin Durant was the top player on the 2010 squad and of course he's back & better than ever. Some guy on Tunisia, Marouan Kechrid, led their team with 15 points lol.

I am curious to see what if books will present any Team Total Over or Under opportunities.

bro there's no point on betting a game like this. it's all luck whether you win or lose. you can't cap a spread that big.

If USA win more than 50...so they don't have class at all... they must have a respect for women...

At first I was thinking take USA, but this is a ridiculous amount of points. That coupled with the fact that LeBron stated earlier today that some of the jumpshooters had depth perception issues in this temporary little stadium against France. Once they get past these prelims they'll be playing in a real arena. Take a look at some other matches that the USA completely dominated (this year in the friendlies and in 2010 vs. Angola).

This year's friendlies....USA vs. Dominican Republic. Final score: USA 113, DR 59 = point differential of 54 points
In 2010 when they annihilated Angola, they covered. But I remember the spread being in the low 40's for that game. USA won that game by exactly 55 points. Final score on that one was 121 to 66.

I'm currently thinking UNDER & Tunisia +55, but who knows. I might change my mind.

After poring over the numbers from the USA vs. Tunisia and USA vs. Angola games of 2010, I think I came up with my leans.

I'm leaning Tunisia +28.5 for first half. Reason being, these guys have some 7 footers and I think we are underestimating their defensive abilities. They probably can't score much, but I think they can prevent USA from demolishing them by more than 28 pts. USA had a slow start vs. Tunisia in 2010, and were only up by 6 at halftime. They did end up winning that game by 35 (they didn't cover). The reason why USA reigned in the 2nd half of that game is because Tunisia's scoring output decreased dramatically. They were uber shitty that 2nd half. Also worth noting is the fact that Lebron had mentioned that the team had some depth perception problems in this temporary arena.

My lean for 2nd half if UNDER because I'm expecting Tunisia to have horrendous scoring as they get worn out of the ballgame.

It is also worth noting that USA defeated the even shittier Angola by exactly 55 points a few days later (in 2010). USA killed them the entire time....went way OVER for first half, and probably UNDER for 2nd half since USA did slow down a bit.

Lastly, don't make the mistake of overvaluing guys like LeBron. He's not gonna come thru and put up like 40 points like he does on the Heat. There are way too many talented guys on Team USA for one single person to go completely off. BOL fellas!

I stuck with my 1st half Tunisia +28.5. So far so good. Still thinking 2nd half Under but not totally sure b/c 1st half may go Under & USA may turn it on 2nd half. I think Tunisia may collapse 2nd half and slow the scoring output. This game is awfully similar to the USA vs. Tunisia matchup from 2010 so far.

USA will probably step it up 2nd half, but I'd hesitate to take them on whatever fat line that Vegas supplies. Tunisia's scoring output probably will decrease as USA clamps up the defense. Not sure what kind of point total Vegas will present to us.

Man that 2nd half Over / Under was a razor sharp line. I have the Under 81. Seems like it's gonna come down to the wire. As expected, Tunisia's scoring dropped off big time, but USA compensated by laying down the law on both ends of the floor.

Yeah it sure was. Wonder if the match vs. Nigeria will pan out this way as well. I think Nigeria is slightly better and has an NBA ball player on the squad.
