Will Las Vegas ever get a NBA team?

I don't understand the hold up. Summer league, team USA, and ever hosted a allstar game.

First argument will be rigged games, ect. I can bet on UNLV and then take a 3 minute cab ride and watch the game. College kids 100x more likely to fix a game.

    Thoughts?

Nope too many broke dikk degenerate transit fuks living there.

Tons of research goes into cities prior to a team relocating and the fact that vegas has no pro teams is telling of their native population.

With that said, it sure would be fun.

actually before the housing market took a bit of a hit I heard they were considering this. Most people picture vegas as just the strip and have no idea how many people actually live there. I think it would be great for the nba. Great for the casinos as there would tons of action and not only that tons of money from the casinos to buy all the luxury sweets for the high rollers. Would prob be the best if not close in attendance if they could field a decent team.

Keep hoping buddy. Vegas has never had a any pro team and thats saying something. They were once considered doesnt mean shit. I was once considered a candidate to win the powerball. Cities like okc, charlotte, jacksonville, green bay and Memphis all have pro teams amd vegas never has. Vegas

"Ever" is a long time...and there are small market franchises that are losing money every year...so I don't think I'd say 'never'...but I don't think it will be anytime soon.

Las Vegas will never get a NBA team as long as Stern and his people run the show.

2007 they had the All Star game, there were over 400 All Star game related arrests.

Employees in every strip casino were quaking in their shoes as the savages ran wild.

Plus, they'll never sell out, nobody cares about the NBA. Want proof? 21 out of 30 teams can't sell out their home games. Detroit can only sell 65 percent of their seats for home games, NJ, Charlotte are not much better.
NYK's claim they sold out 100 percent of their home games last season, funny, every time I tune in, there are blocks of empty seats I see.

Must be that Stern and his creative accounting team.

Only people who think the NBA is relevant are the ESPN people, seeing that's where their bread is buttered.

I could be wrong, but if there was a team I think there is a law not allowing bets for an instate team.
So all the casinos in Nevada couldn't put up line for the "Las Vegas Kings" (if Sacramento had moved there).

Doubtful. That law about betting on games in state is long gone but casinos that have ownership stake in a team can't take action on their games. No Sac lines at Palms and because Loveman has like 3% ownership of Celtics, no Caesars properties can book Celtic games. His personal stake cost the company he has buried in debt by failing to get into Macau even more potential profits since Celts have made deep playoff runs since he bought in. Now that they partnered with Dan Gilbert in Ohio casinos, they will no longer be able to book Cavs games either.

To me the nba is dying a slow death. I use to go to Mavs games all the time. I haven't been in a few years. The cost of tickets and all have gone up way too much. Last time I looked it was about 1500.00 to get floor seats. My parents had season tickets on the floor for years until Cuban bought the team. My step dad sold all his stock in the Mavs and only went when his friend gave us tickets.

Maloof brothers tried to move the Kings. Stern stepped in and said yes, but the day you do, will be the day the NBA comes off the boards. To say the least, the rest of Vegas said thanks, but NO thanks.
And that's the rest and end of the story.

Never selling out is false....in fact if Vegas had an NBA team they probably would never NOT sell out. The Casino's alone would own basically every relevant seat in the house & would use the tickets for comps & such, that's a promise. UNLV draws well. The NBA summer league draws well. Combine the Casino execs fighting for tickets w/ the locals & the tourist that would love a chance @ an NBA game & Vegas would have no choice but to draw well for an NBA game.

    Perception.

Leagues do not want to be identified with gambling.

#1 reason no team from the big leagues is there IMO.

Mayor Goldman was gung ho about bringing a team to Vegas before they hosted the all-star game. After he saw the city nearly torn to shreds that weekend he went on record & said there would never be an NBA team in Vegas while he was in office. That weekend was a mess. I work @ the MGM Grand & employees there had to be escorted to & from their work station all weekend long <----Fact. Restaurants were closed on Sat night after a staggering number of bills went unpaid the previous two nights <------Fact. There were 3 homicides on MGM property alone that weekend <-----Fact. Hi-limit baccarat is the heart & soul of the MGM pit & reported it's lowest grossing weekend of all time. presumably under the reason that the whales that fuel it were "scared away" <------Fact. Savages is an understatement. You would have had to be here to believe what was going on that weekend.

What was supposed to be one of the most successful & hyped events in the history of Las Vegas turned out to be a huge mistake by the city & all but destroyed any chance that an NBA franchise ever makes it into Las Vegas <------fact

That big area down by Fountainbleu was slated to be a pro basketball arena at one time. You can see what's become of it now.

I agree that attendance would be extremely difficult to keep at a high level. Simply too many pieces of the pie vying for your entertainment dollar. Casinos wouldn't really be crazy about sending a bunch of their patrons to a non-gambling venue for 4 hours 41 times a year.

Exactly, Stern does not want the bad image that his already fixed league has.

If you fixed an event why would you bother with the books in Vegas when most are scared to take a bet and you can get exponentially more down elsewhere? If you are going to fix a match what difference does where the team is located make?

Simply incompetents running things who have no clue and refuse to admit that prohibition never produces the desired result...

Really hope they don't. Especially if they build the sports complex in Henderson.
