Would you trade Paul Gasol for Rondo and Brandon Bass?

Match made in heaven isnt it? Lakers trying to get rid of Gasol Boston getting rid of their best player who happens to be a point guard.

I know it is Celtics and lakers but cant se why this hasnt even been speculated.

Only threw Bass in because salary fits decent, although Cox could work as well. But obviously It is basically gasol for Rondo, which would probably be semi fair if the salaries matched up better.

Obviously that means boston woud have ot find a PG from somewhere but they arent going to find anyone as good as Rondo. So the major question is why are they willing to trade their best player and the one time future of the franchise?

Seriously though, not sure. Rondo can't score, so what does a good PG do for you if you trade a huge part of your offense?

Getting someone like sessions for a pick is much better option.

No. I don't really have a need for Paul Gasol. He could maybe cut the lawn.

Celts would never do it. Rondo has to return young pieces right? But wouldnt be surprised if they both got traded with a week.

Why would Boston do that? Then they'd be stuck with no PG, a past-his-prime Pau Gasol, and no true center.

Gasol's best days are behind him, in a year or two he will be where KG is now.

Boston needs to get younger, not older.

I don't think there is much of a market out there for Rondo. All the teams who are pushing for the playoffs either already have a PG, or don't need one. Only teams in the playoff hunt that need a PG are Lakers, Blazers and Jazz. I think Portland and Utah could mustard up a deal for Rondo if they wanted to, but I'm not sure if either team wants to give up some of their young talent and draft picks.

If Boston comes knocking at the Lakers door........L.A. has to take a look at this trade.

No way Boston does that deal. Bass very underrated for his salary, they are already talking about how they hope to re-sign him this season as he's expected to opt out of his last year at $4.25 mil or something around that #

Even Rondo for Pau is an awful deal. Pau getting older by the minute (like the rest of Boston) and way overpaid. Rondo dishes out 13 assists and gets 5 steals tonight and only making $11 mil per yEar, very good compared to other all-star level PGs

That is a great deal for LAL but Boston would surely never do that, gotta consider age and Gasol's contract. I like Bass as well, decent player

Theyre both gone from their respective teams, either before the deadline or after the season, that is as close to a certainty as you will ever see.

I would like to see Rondo go to Orlando instead of Ellis. But not sure what Orlando gives up for him.

Like I said gasol is nearly untradeable with his contract. So you need a 'big' name guy for him as well as someone not so big with a decent sized salary. Maybe lakers throw in one of their scrubs for window dressing.

But right now there arent a lot of guys looking to move or even teams looking to move guys. One of the quiestest years in forever on the trade deadline front. basically only guys looking to get moved are misfits who the teams just want to move, and Gasol who is overpaid.

Probably has a lot to do with the shortened season and a lot of teams are still semi contenders, so they all want to try and make a move for the play offs. The obvious cellar teams and lottery teams right now are mostly young and are in obviously rebuilding mode. So they dont have alot of 'name' recognition and arent going to trade young guys with potential for someone who is established.

But basically only names swirling around associated with trades are Rondo-misfit but very talented, Beasely- misfit reasonably talented, Gasol- overpaid but talented, Wilson Chandler- cant get a deal signed so probably ends up in Europe for the rest of this year.

Although there have been some Devin Harris rumors out there the past couple days. But not sure lakers have the right fit to make that sort of trade. But he is a point guard and not horrible.

But more than likely if they are serious theyre probably trying to figure out how to get Williams out of New Jersey. Which all things considered should be impossible. But has any new billionaire owner who just got a new arena done less with any sports franchise than that commie in New Jersey? Just another example as to why the NBA is a frigging joke as a business.

Either way options are limited for a lot of teams. Most have guys they could trade but everyone wants sweetheart deals. In the end all of them will be looking to dump salary so more than likely they have guys with adding machines figuring out when the absolute best time is to offer a guy for that bargain basement price.

    Lakers will never get Rondo

He has 10x more impact on a game than Gasol

They are one of the teams in the Playoff Race.

Of course UTA won't do any damage, but they are a team who may choose to make a push for a playoff seed rather than pack it in for next season.

Devin Harris and one of the bigs (Favors, Kanter, Milsap, Jefferson) could get Boston's attention.

This. Back in 07 there were rumors that the Lakers were trying to get KG as well. Now we all know that deal to the C's was made based on 2 former teammates and their respect for each other. Even if Lakers had offered a better package no way McHale would have chosen Lakers over his former team and good friend Ainge. Also personally I think in this scenario there is no way Ainge lets Rondo go to the Lakers even if they had the players and contracts to make the deal. That blood runs very deep.
