    Celtics/Grizzlies over 186.5 +220

If you take the season averages for these two teams, the Celtics average 177.3 ppg in their games and the Grizzlies average 185.7 ppg in their games. The average of those is 181.5.

There are the two refs with known records in this game: Mark Lindsay and Ken Mauer. They both seem to get a lot of overs, overs are 13-4 in Mauer's games and 10-7 in Lindsay's games. Also, we've got a ref who according to covers.com has never reffed an NBA game before. With this being his first game I think he may be ready to really blow the whistle to show the players he means business.

Also, I read on another site that Mauer favors the Celtics and judging by his record with the Celtics that could be true.

I hate playing totals but I see a ton of value here. Anyone with me?

The over is possible with these 2 teams especially the way the Grizzlies have been playing lately.

If this new ref does a bad job people will be complaining about having the misfortune to bet on a game where a ref with no experience was reffing but I posted this an hour before the game and no one commented on it. We'll see, it'll be interesting. New refs with no experience don't just appear in mid-season too often.

covers.com has info on refs and I picked up the tip about Mauer from the ESPN message board. If the Grizzlies didn't play their worst game of the season I think I would have won this bet easily.

About refs, don't forget Donaughy claimed he was hitting 70% ATS just by considering the refs and what the league wanted, etc. and nothing else as far as I know. Even after that's been public for a long only a tiny fraction of bettors seem to care about who's reffing a game. What's wrong with them?
