I'm not talking about being overrated by the books and the spreads they are covering because they are covering insane spreads daily, but just in terms of their quality as a team. They've started very well, but most of their wins have come against sub par opponents. If you look at the quality of opponent that they've faced, they've been able to comfortably take care of average teams but they struggle against the better then average teams. I think they've improved on last season, but I'm not convinced yet by them and I think the tough part is still yet to come for this team and if they can come out of it > .600 then it's a fair effort by them. 10 out of their 12 wins have come against sub par opponents, and 4 of those against the two worst teams in the league (Washington and Detroit)
I put them on par with Indiana, these are two teams that I like because they are outsiders competing and doing it very well, but Indiana so far has shown what it's capable of more than Philly has in terms of being able to take care of the good teams.
Philly vs Good teams
Portland - Loss
Utah - Loss
Indiana - Win
New York(Very questionable) - Loss
Denver - Loss
Atlanta - Win
Miami - Loss
Philly vs Average teams
Phoenix - Win
Golden State - Win
New Orleans - Win
Detroit - Win
Toronto - Win
Sacramento - Win
Washington - Win
Washington - Win
Milwaukee - Win
Washington - Win
Does anyone else agree with me here? Please share you 2c on the 76ers, they way it's looking is that they'll make the playoffs with a 6 or 5 seed, but then bow out at the hands of any decent opponent.
