Some of these guys just don't think. Carrying all of those drugs is just asking for trouble.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Senior guard Bryson Krueger, the second-leading scorer for Arizona State last season, has been kicked off the team following his arrest for possession of a gun and various drugs.

Krueger, 22, was taken into custody early Wednesday after Tempe police said two Ecstasy pills, a Xanax painkiller pill, 4 grams of cocaine and an unregistered, loaded .40-caliber handgun were found in his car.

Officers responded after receiving calls Tuesday night from a city resident who claimed Krueger and another person were threatening him over a $250 debt, said Sgt. Dan Masters, a Tempe police spokesman.

Authorities said Friday that Krueger's case has been referred to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, which is investigating and could file criminal charges.

Arizona State announced Thursday that Krueger had been dismissed from the basketball program, citing unspecified off-court behavior.

The 6-foot-7 Krueger transferred to Arizona State from Prescott's Yavapai Community College and averaged 12.3 points last season.
