Not feeling the T'Wolves as a favorite

I like this team and its makeup; they're going to definitely turn some heads and win some ballgames this year. But -4 vs. Memphis? Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves?

Think the Grizzlies are the play here.

How hard do you think the Grizzlies will play knowing they are underdogs?

Grizzlies dominated the Wolves in all 4 matchups last year

"Memphis, which has won seven of the last eight meetings against the Wolves, including the last four by an average of 14.8 points."

"Love has been held in check in eight career games against the Grizzlies, averaging 13.4 points and 9.4 rebounds - his lowest rebounding mark against any Western Conference opponent."

If I were to play it, I'd go with Memphis. i think there are certainly easier games on the board however

z-bo is the one who usually checks k love and he is out. he likes and respects love but usually ups his game a little when they go head to head. i live in memphis and follow grizz pretty close-conley still a little gimped up but will play but they are playing a lot of new faces, cunningham, pondexter, pargo and just haven't been real consistent. good luck with whatever you decide.

they tend to run offense through the bigs when he is not playing which i think they are better suited for. rudy tends to dominate the ball and dribbles too much when he is on the floor. they are saying zach could be out up to 8 weeks so some other guys are going to have to step it up.

I don't see how you can compare last year to this year. This is a completely different Wolves team this year. I mean really, who didn't dominate the Wolves last year?

The Grizzlies are currently playing with a pretty small team with Randolph out and Haddadi still not ready to go. Conventionally, the Grizz rely on a strong presence in the paint at the defensive end leading to fastbreak points, and at the offensive end as well.

Facing a Wolves team with a HUGE frontline in Beasley/Love/Darko is going to make it tough for the Grizzlies to really control the paint tonight. Against the Kings, Gasol really only had to contend with Cousins/Thompson inside (who combined for ~40 minutes) while playing 41 minutes himself, playing a lot of single coverage against them one at a time, or against the undersized Hayes. Coming off a game where he played a lot of minutes, and no one available on the bench to really fill his role, this could be a really tough night for Marc Gasol.

Additionally, the Wolves shoot a lot of 3pt shots and have been pretty good from range so far, while the Grizz can't really match them on the perimeter, allowing almost 25 3pt attempts per game (opponents average 9 of 25). This could be a tough game for Memphis to really play their game due to mismatches favouring Minnesota, and Adelman is the kind of coach that expects his team to keep their foot on the gas for 48 minutes. I'm not sure this is a great spot for the Grizz.

Obviously the line is where it is because Z-Bo's out.

I still think the books are overcorrecting for Minnesota's hot start.

Perhaps, however tight games against the Thunder and Heat, and SU wins against the Mavs and Spurs makes for an extremely impressive start.
