    Regular Season Game 1 - October 17, 2011 - ZALGIRIO ARENA

    CSKA Moscow at Zalgiris Kaunas
    game line: CSKA Moscow -6.5/146.5

    Zalgiris PROBABLE STARTERS

    Guard
    Ty Lawson
    Mantas Kalnietis

    Forward
    Sonny Weems
    Paulius Jankunas

    Center
    Robertas Javtokas

    CSKA Moscow PROBABLE STARTERS

    Guard
    Alexey Shved
    Milos Teodosic

    Forward
    Ramunas Siskauskas
    Darjus Lavrinovic

    Center
    Nenad Krstic

    It's a sold out at Zalgirio Arena for Zalgiris playing its first Euroleague home game. This will be a physical matchup similar to Russia vs Lithuania in Eurobasket. Zalgiris signed 2 NBA gamer; Ty Lawson and Weems, both had seem to fit well now but Ty Lawson was reported struggling in adjust to the European style earlier on. CSKA will be loaded with talents such as Andrei Kirilenko and Nenad Krstic, it will be no excuse for not playing well in this game.

    Projection result: 72-67 Russia.

    Zalgiris +6.5

    lol any of the euro leagues that have NBA players should do pretty well. The Europeans can't match athleticism of guys like Ty Lawson but I don't know

    you would like to think so, but on a contrary, they play a far more full court press style type of defense with 10mins quarter instead of 12 mins in NBA.

    Montepaschi Siena, an Italian basketball powerhouse, currently 2nd in its league standing, with a great young player in Bo McCalebb whom had led FYR Macedonia deep in 2011 Eurobasket. The team also feature a workhorse PF in David Andersen whom had played for the Raptor and the Hornets.

    UNICS is currently 5th in Russian leagues, a simple .500 team to play away from home in a hostile Italian soccer/basketball fans, you all can fill in the rest from here how it will turn out. The only thing I like about this team is NATHAN JAWAI, a baby shaq with plenty of rebounding and interior defense but non of that can really matter cause Siena is an excellent jump-shooting team.

    Take Siena -2.5
    _____________________________
    Fenerbahçe Ülker is amongst top rank in Turkish league, Roko Ukic is their key scoring guard and a sound roster with a excellent front line.
    Due injuries, Caja Laboral didnt have a good showing in 2010 and currently just rank 8th out of 18 in the Spanish league.

    Take Fen Ulker -5.5
    _____________________________
    French champion SLUC Nancy Basket will feature one Nicolas Batum, while Bennet Cantu is a top rank Italian league stocked with no names roster, but these guys really shoot away against any .500 teams if you let them.

    Take SLUC Nancy -6.5

    Galatasaray of Istanbul had added Zaza Pachulia, this without a doubt a vast dominant frontline included Darius Songaila against Asseco Prokom with Alonzo Gee.

    maybe you are true but not for the lawson kind of players,which have no brain in their game..kirilenko,batum,parker,etc will dominate,bcoz they can play with their mind,not only muscles..guys like lawson,dejuan blair,etc will struggle big time with those european defending tactics..i hope you understand what's my point..

    that's correct, as the order I had picked up from Unibet & the line is now siena -3.5
    & SLUC Nancy +6.5, so Cantu is the favorite, then this really make sense.

    Brose Baskets Bamberg the German home team will host visitor KK Zagreb of Croatia, both teams had won championship in their league home country, both plays similar style of low post/half court game but Brose is a better outside/jumpshooting team and can play a fast upper tempo switch when needed, also they can play excellent defense down the stretch.

    Take Brose Baskets -7.5
    ___________________________
    Maccabi at Emporio Armani Milano
    Maccabi added Jordan Farmar, this is a team with a solid coaching staff with great understanding of what it takes to win and had proven records. Milano on the other hands had added a string of good shooters/scorers such as Danilo Gallinari. I am leaning toward Maccabi as they have more winning core from key players to the coach David blatt, but playing over total I think is the best spot for this game.

    The depth & talent of Real Madrid's guards will be too much for Spirou, fresh from eurobasket's title game the Spanish club included top well known players such as Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Llull, Sergio Rodriguez, Felipe Reyes, stars power will take this one down and should cover ATS.

    Efes bought some serious players like stanko barac, vlado ilievski, e. ilyasova and vujacic and they had a strong team already. They only thing that partizan has is home court,but which is a big factor for them because they have one of the best fans there is. i personaly took Efes at -110 in a parlay with Barcelona but low stakes. Partizan lost vesely,gist,jawai and jerrells which were all in starting 5. I dont trust Law that much so i have to ride with Efes here. Good bet on bet365 is also acie law over 13 points. GL PS: sorry for bad write up but im on wap and it was done fast. What im saying is,that value is on efes, but be careful here.

    Unicaja vs. Zalgiris Kaunas
    Both lost to season's opening & both had played against tough quality teams, but Unicaja will have advantage this time round for playing at home, while the odd is stacked against Zalgiris as:

    1. they are 1-11 on the road vs Spainish teams,
    2. Unicaja undefeated at home against Lithuanian team since November 2003.
    3. head coach changes, currently depend on an interim/not a very experience head coach but one can prepare the game while in transition.

    much will depend on quickness of Ty Lawson. Sonny Weems and DeJuan Collins had sat out in Lithuanian League game so they are in full form for this game. True to Lithuanian's style, they will push the ball up, aggressive and in constant attack the basket, Unicaja however is some what differ to that contrast, defensive stop is their brand of basketball, currently unbeaten 4-0 in Spanish's league & not allow foe to score more than 16 points first quarters.
    Both teams has similar output in their respective league in points for and points against; both unbeaten 4-0

    Zalgiris
    pf = 85
    pa = 71

    Unicaja
    pf = 84
    pa = 72

    both had decent FG% 48-51%, both had a poor 3's shooting & significant contributed to their lost.
    Unicaja at home will be a different team and one will hits their 3's and a bounce back performance from one lost to Panathinaikos.

    79-69 Unicaja

    i guess this is an over or a no bet.

    poor 3s that's true, but that was agaisnt good perimeter defensive teams.

    the game didn't go as expected.
    i needed ET to hit over and you lost your -8,5 with a three pointer in the end... but Malaga won that game thanks to Extra time.

    i got Efes -15,5 (1.90) and Efes -19.5 (2.60) @Bet365

    It is up to the Turkish team how big the margin will be. This is the first "easy" pick of this season imo.
