    NBA 2nd half lines - a conspiracy

The sportsbooks appear to be using the 2H lines to exploit the public. We don't know how much the NBA stars are being paid to be a part of this conspiracy. A case in point: in Saturday's Rockets/Clippers game, the Clippers trailed the Rockets by 3 points at the end of the 1H. The 2H Rockets -2 line (which later came down to Rockets -1) looked like a "gift". To cut the story short, the Clippers outscored the Rockets by 50-34 in the 2H. The highlight of this was that the Rockets scored a grand total of 3 (yes, three) points in the first 6 minutes of the 4Q. Even if you've been paid to lose a game, isn't there a more dignifying way of accomplishing that other than scoring 3 pints in 6 minutes?

I wouldn't call it a conspiracy or a "gift line" (in my eyes). I didn't make a play at the half since I had Hou for the game but the better majority of the time if a team is up by 3 at the half when shooting 36% compared to 46% I would take that team -1 for the 2nd half as just a pure numbers play. Houston just didn't come to play tonight.

You can't explain something like that. But I do see your point, Wilforth. The Rockets not being able to score against the Clippers? That's preposterous if I were betting that 2H (luckily I didn't). The Clippers locking down on any team (maybe it was just the Rockets poor play) is mind-boggling to me.

So what if people jumped on the clippers? How would they get the word into the players that fast? Do you think Baron Davis was on his cell phone on the sideline talking to a sportsbook owner about how they have to win the half? Honestly it sounds like your just making excuses cause you made a bet that looked good and didnt cash out.

    Thanks for your responses.
Fact is losing bets is nothing. We're used to that. It's the way the Rockets screwed up in the 2H of that game that's inexplicable. No team can win all the time, but when teams lose, they should do so with dignity. Considering what these guys earn, can you imagine them scoring 3 points in 6 minutes? I mean the NBA is much better than that. Such performances undermine the integrity of the NBA.

I hear ya 100% there...these are people we are betting on and any of us that have played hoops before know that sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way or the rim is just unforgiving at times. As you say these guys earn a shitload of money for halfass nights like this...also with that same point I don't see them having anything to gain but everything to lose by compromising the game. Good luck tomorrow Wilforth.

the clippers are not the same team as they were at the first of the year but in your defense many times the games are called differently in the 2nd half and i definitely think the refs are in on controling the game.. if you watch enough games and you follow the line its easy to see.. and god help someone who has picked a team where their is alot of money on them.. they never cover

the reason im hesitant abt picking teams such as rockets is because of how the minutes of the players are managed.

for ex. wafer, a bench player is suddenly on fire against memphis, scoring 7straight points. then alderman benched him for the rest of the game. and in hayes, another bench player, defending horribly but still getting his mins compared to landry. Hayes played majored mins while battier was out.

houston's coach should tell his players what play to do in case of droughts.
some penetration and plays that is designed to get fouls, thats what pierce is known for.
