Spurs Listed As Underdogs In Elimination Game

The San Antonio Spurs stayed alive in the NBA playoffs with a win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, but they’re not out of the woods yet. The clubs head to Memphis for Game 6 of the series on Friday, with the Spurs trailing 3-2.

San Antonio needed overtime to down the Grizzlies 110-103 in overtime in Game 5. The Spurs finally got big performances from its stars in the same game. For whatever reason, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker haven’t clicked at the same time, but they delivered on Thursday. Ginobili dropped 33 points, six rebounds and six assists on Memphis, while Parker was clutch with 24 points of his own.
Tim Duncan’s role has been greatly reduced this season, but he delivered a fine effort in Game 5. The future Hall of Famer finished with just 13 points, but 11 of them came in the first quarter, setting the tone for the Spurs. Duncan also grabbed 12 rebounds.
Memphis was burned by two shots in the final 2.2 seconds of the game, but overall the Grizzlies should be pretty pleased with how they played. The Grizzlies continue to exhibit a serious size advantage over the Spurs; Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol were at it again, combining for 37 points and 28 rebounds in Game 5. Gasol’s shooting was a little off (5-for-14, 11 points), but if they can both get it going the Spurs are finished.
