    How Good Was Allen Iverson??

do you guys think he's overrated??

I actually think he was a tremendous offensive talent that was tasted because he played on bad Offensive teams. You look at his shooting numbers and, yes, he shot a very low percentage but it was due to the fact that he had to carry that team year in and year out on offensive end

when he actually did play for a decent offensive team with some talent around him, he basically put up Kobe numbers in Denver (25 ppg on 48% true field goal percentage)

also a very underrated passer. Averaged 7+ assists per game in the latter part of his career (even on bad philly teams)

He's a hot dog like rose. When he has the ball, expect something great going to happen but most of the time, you already know that he's hogging that ball and brick a ton just to get them par numbers.

    a hot dog like rose?!

you sir, have just committed a grave transgression for which you shall never be forgiven. God save your soul.

AI, as a person, is the polar opposite of D.Rose. There's aspects of their games that are similar but D.Rose is much more humble, a much better team mate, a better leader and a more dedicated worker.

Allen Iverson was the best player under 6-1 to ever play the game. He is defitnely one of the top ten scorers of all time. And i think he should defitnely be a first ballot hall of famer.

An analysis of Iverson is presented in the book "Basketball on Paper"

In short, he was very inefficient, a ball hog, took too many shots, and would never feed other players to increase their FG% as a true PG should do.

Iverson was never really a PG, even if he played that spot and was racking up assists noone ever considering him a true PG. His best years came with Eric Snow at PG next to him, just a guy that can bring up the ball and initiate the offense (aka pass the ball to Iverson). To be fair, the guy did take his team to the Finals.

I rather watch a hot dog playing than a cold dog.

Hope you understand what I meant when I say a hot dog.

    Was he a ballhog? Yes.
Is he a first ballot hall of famer? Yes.
Did he make Michael Jordan look like a tool the first time they met? Yes.
Did he practice enough? It's debatable. Practice! Talkin about...practice!

Here's what i see similar about AI and D.Rose... killer crossovers and monster reverse lay ups. They're both talented scorers, AI was slightly more talented in that respect. but D.Rose is superior to AI in many other ways which I don't feel like getting into right now...

wouldn't you agree though that a lot of his inefficiency was due to the shortcomings of the sixers in early 2000s?? it seemed like AI had to shoot 28 times to really have a chance to win

he was a pretty good efficient PG when he went to a decent offensive team in Denver

he was also a very good passer in the latter part of his career

Allen I can dunk on people while if Rose dunk on people, he will apologize. I think that is the difference.

Rose seems to play cleaner. Iverson looks like a gangster on them court. I played street ball with gangster before and you have to give them all the respect or they will get mad. In other words, if you win, you actually lose and if you lose, you still lose.

He was a straight up chucker. Did he put up points? Yes. But most players in the NBA could average the same amount of points he did if they got the same number of shot attempts and FT attempts.

But he was a very entertaining player because he brought a streetball one on one mentality. And even tho he was listed at 6 foot I heard he was no way 6 foot and he was a inspiration to all us short basketball players.

Rose is not a gangsta but he is from the south side of Chicago, so I'm sure thats why he's so quiet and humble, cuz that way you don't get killed by the gangstas.

Rose does play clean but he does have a lot of that street ball mentality in his game.

Yeah, he was so efficient that Denver was instantly turned into a contender the second they traded him.

He was pathetic. His main value was using as an example to up and comers of how not to play the game. totally selfish waste.

Denver was a great offensive team with AI in there (which is what this thread is about)

they never went anywhere because of defense

    One more for Iverson.

He is the inspiration for them AND 1 mixed tape and kids like hotsauce and them kids who have crazy dribbling skills.

After Mike, kids want to be like Iverson, especially them skinny and shorter kids. It helps them to keep the dream alive.
