Plate size and cooling changes for Daytona

    http://twitter.com/#!/NASCAR/status/37882767576543233

NASCAR trimmed plate size for Cup cars 1/64”, keeping speeds in range; allowing for fast racing and lots of passing.

They also mandated a size for the the grill inlet and a pressure for the relief valve to try and make the cars overheat if they stay nose to tail for more than a lap or two.

I expect the smaller plate will help the Toyotas most?

If the cooling changes make the expected difference the 500 won't be run anything like the Shootout too.

Might have to re-assess everything I was thinking now.

I am glad that they want to keep the speeds up and I think it will be even a little faster with the new track.
