Best bets for Sunday's NASCAR race at The Brickyard 🏁

Best bets for Sunday's NASCAR race at The Brickyard

    ESPN PLUS ($ MATERIAL)

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Indianapolis on Sunday for the Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 Powered by Big Machine Records.

Kevin Harvick won Saturday's Pocono 325, and Denny Hamlin was victorious in Sunday's Pocono 350. Who will take the checkered flag Saturday (4 p.m. ET) at Indianapolis Motor Speedway?

ESPN Fantasy's Mike Clay and editor Scott Symmes offer their best bets for the race.

Note: Odds from Caesars Sportsbook as of Thursday, unless otherwise noted.

    Best bets

    Kevin Harvick (+400 at DraftKings)

Clay: It's been seven years since Harvick has finished outside the top 10 at Indy. In fact, he hasn't experienced a result worse than second since 2016. A first- and second-place finish at Pocono has him riding a wave of momentum to Indiana where he will defend last season's commanding victory. He led nearly 75 percent of that race to score his second Brickyard win in six attempts. Harvick is the favorite for a reason and it'll be a tall order to keep him from victory lane on Sunday.

    Joey Logano (+750 at DK)

Symmes: Logano has been about as good as a driver can be at Indianapolis without winning. He has two runner-up finishes at the Brickyard, including last year, and boasts an average finish of 5.6 over the past five Indy races, behind only Kevin Harvick (4.0). Since joining Team Penske in 2013, Logano has an average Indy finish of 5.9, tops among the drivers who competed in all seven of those races. Logano has been mired in a strange slump lately, but a trip to Indy should be the perfect remedy. All the numbers point to him being a contender.

Clay: Last weekend's double-dose of Pocono was a forgettable venture for Logano who was forced to a backup car on Sunday after a blown tire ruined his ride the day prior. He will get a chance at redemption this weekend with NASCAR heading to its second straight large, flat oval. Fortunately for Logano, he's long enjoyed success at The Brickyard where he has collected a top 10 in seven of 11 outings. He twice finished runner-up, most recently to Harvick last September. Logano is enduring a rough spell as of late, but Indianapolis is exactly the place for him to regain his usual form.

    Clint Bowyer (25-1 at DK)

Symmes: Bowyer has been a factor in the past two Brickyard 400s, finishing fifth in each race. Harvick (last year's Brickyard winner) and Aric Almirola have shown the most raw speed among the Stewart-Haas Racing stable in recent weeks, but Bowyer was quietly solid last weekend at Pocono (two top-10s), which has some of the same characteristics as Indy. Keep him in mind for Sunday, especially considering these friendly odds.

    Sleepers

    Bubba Wallace (125-1 at DK)

Symmes: Wallace's best career Cup finish came in the 2018 Daytona 200 (second), but perhaps his best drive came last year at Indy. Wallace made a charge in the final stage, held his own on two late restarts and earned a season-best third-place finish. Like many Chevy drivers, Wallace has seen improvement in 2020, recording six top-15s. (He had five all of last season.) Sunday could be the day he and the No. 43 team take another step forward.
