    THE DAYTONA 500---5mike5

Alright fellas the 2014 is officially about the start up with the DAYTONA 500 this Sunday....This is also a TRIPLE-HEADER weekend with the trucks racing on friday NIGHT, and the nationwide series also running @ Daytona on Saturday afternoon and the 500 on Sunday afternoon...

hopefully this season is just as great as the last 3 season here have been, but im greedy so im hoping to do up the ante and have the best season we have had yet...appreciate all the guys help, cause this place wouldn't be the same without ya, and my wallet wouldn't be near as fat either..we are also using this thread for the Gatorade Duels on Thursday night, as no need to have 2 separate threads since they make most of the starting lineup for the 500 on Sunday...

GOODLUCK this year and weekend guys, as always all the regulars are welcomed and encouraged to post opinions and picks in this thread...its for the group...and after Daytona it should get back to just the regulars since most people think this is only race of the season

DAYTONA is a 2.5 mile high speed tri-oval ractrack...all the turns have a banking of 31 degrees, the tri-oval banking is 18 degrees...the frotstratch measures out at 3,800 feet long with the backstretch at 3,000..and picking the winner is a complete crapshoot, but somehow we always seem to find a way to do it...and by the next morning, we will all be ready to settle in for the real regular season of ovals

    GOODLUCK!!!

I pick mostly by odds and some longshots. But I usually bet along the same lines every year on plate racetracks with a few different picks here and there but I'll be picking and betting all week up until Racetime depending how odds shift besides who I alreaDy bet

Daytona ans talladega are basically crapshoots. Not like a regular week when handicapping 25 hrs a week actually helps. This track u need more luck than skill to win the race. But I bet just as much money on this race as any other. I can't help myself. Plus I've been rather lucky at restrictor plate races. I hit 150-1 at dega last season so that proves any1 can win on those 2 racetracks

Well those are the basic 3 favorites. Rough to bet those here but gotta have a few. Just hate betting any favs at plate tracks besides kennseth here and harvick at dega

But more favorites win here than Daytona because it isn't as wide as talladega. I like dega about 100x better than Daytona because passing is so easy there compared to here. But I was pleasantly surprised by the passing at the unlimited race on Saturday.

I don't. But hell who knows.

Besides last 1/2 lap single car speed ain't gonna mean much. Who is this optional? Oh u already know this.

Most all us regular NASCAR handicappers can't wait for the 500 to get here because the season is starting, but are glad when Daytona is over with honestly. Because the regular oval racetracks we have the advantage of knowledge compared to Daytona where it'a basically a crapshoot. U can still have the best plate drivers to have a small advantage, but nothing like regular race weekend. But it sure is fun as hell

I took Dillon +3500 and Biffle +2350 about a week ago. I really like those odds on Biffle as he is an under rated plate racer.

For anyone not extremely familiar with NASCAR betting, like Mike said these retrictor plate races are a crapshoot. Its all about getting the best odds at restrictor plate races. I will almost never take some at 10-1 odds or worse at these races because the playing field is so level in the draft. Yes there are a few guys that run really well at restrictor plate tracks but finishing well and winning is a big difference in the betting world. I personally think Dale Jr is the best at this racing but he has not won in nearly a decade at Daytona or Talladega (points races). Jr has finished 2nd in what 3 of the last 4 Daytona 500s? One of the next best restrictor plate racers IMO Tony Stewart has never won the 500. So just make sure you are getting great odds with your picks because even the best at this style racing can struggle to find victory lane.

Lots of choices to be made. As already said not worth taking anyone in single figures doubt if jimmie goes off at 18-1 like last yr .

Of course junior, harvick, kenseth worth a look but definately value elsewhere
    Logano,mcmurray and newman as outsiders

I like those depending on the odds of course. I usually pick a guy and might bet him 4-5 times as odds shift and depending on the max bet I'm allowed.

I havent bet any of the guys u would think yet til odds post again. I took just a few. Great plate drivers that are huge underdogs. Like David ragan and David gilliland. Don't laugh either, remember ragan paid me and and lot of people that tailed him off me @150-1 just last year at the other plate track talladega. More longshots win there but Dayton any1 can do it too just it's just not near as easily do e at because its a narrow track.

For me, the real handicapping season starts next week after Daytona because luck doesn't play a big role. And I feel when I study for25- 30 hours for it I have the edge. As much as possible anyways. I don't do all that same intense hard work for Daytona. Ita a crapshoot. I use a list of drivers and swap a few guys depending on odds mostly. Maye 1 guy 12-1 or under only usually.

Now when the 2nd race starts the real season starts for guys like me. But damn Daytona is so exciting I bet just as damn much on it too.

they will probably put up the duel odds for those 2 races tomorrow

last tear i didnt even bet but 1 of them the odds were so bad imo for a plate race, hopefully they will be a little better this year

at least a few good longshots...if not i might just wat til the 500

but i ould love to see some parlable wins, but doubt that happens....might start a longshot Open parlay though....

I can't either. Gotta decide how I'm gonna approach them. Nope fully some good longshot parlay options or to start some opens.

But being a triple header weekend open parlays are not gonna be a problem!!! I might have several .

I Always say I'm gonna get my bets on this crapshoot risking less but always bet a lot as usual. Is be better of laying my rent for 6 months instead. LOL. But my luck is usually above average on the plate tracks so I never can. But I'm a freakin
monster at dega much more than here.

Guess ill just see about duels when odds post. Duels thurs, trucks fri night, nationwide Saturday , and the Daytona 500 Sunday. God damn it WHAT A WEEK!!!!! Lots of CASH to load up on my $$$ hauler!!!
