    Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix

    Wet weekend predicted

via Pitpass - the latest hottest F1 & A1 GP news by editor@pitpass.com on 20/09/12
The Singapore street circuit may already be one of the most challenging on the calendar, but drivers and teams look set to face an even tougher test with rain forecast across the weekend.

Pitpass make me shake my head sometimes. Are they serious? Rain is forecast every single day in Singapore, just like any area in that region of the world. But every forecast I have seen says it is very unlikely for rain to effect the event. I'm not saying that is completely certain as tropical climates can turn very quickly, but unlikely...

There will be another update overnight at some stage but i'd go with this.

I'm finding it difficult to decide what I like for this weekend. It is hard to look past McLaren IMO. They have won the last 3 in a row and also strong on high downforce circuits.

The only play I see with any good value is Lewis for Pole.

It's a shame there is no value in the Safety Car prop. Every Singapore race has had an SC so far!

Thanks Matt. Had not seen another weather report.

Yeah agree, hard to see value in Lewis to win, but hard to feel strong about anyone else to beat him.

I'm kind of tossing up taking a suck it and see bet on Vettel, in the hope Red Bull have been waiting to get to a circuit like this and have maybe been preparing more useful updates for here than the last couple of high speed races.

    Definitely!

Glad you reminded me about that actually. Don't think I'll take it at +850 until we see practice though.

Fastest lap is most dependant on who has the freshest tyres late in the race. But Kimi will have a fast car this weekend no doubt.

Apart from Monza, the Red Bull pace has been very good. I havent read about any major upgrades this weekend for RB, but you should probably look at SV Podium, he should be there or thereabouts. Remember Valencia? He was dominating until the engine failure...

Oh yeah Valencia too. Hadn't thought of that. Plus Vettel pole in Montreal and Webber win in Monaco

Might forget my Red Bull speccy bet... Mark Webber: “We are back on high downforce and the track temperature is quite hot, so it is hard on the tyres. My prediction is that we will be very competitive in Suzuka and Korea. In America and Brazil we should be strong. The uncertain candidates are here and a little bit in Abu [Dhabi], but at the rest we should be strong.”

Yeah, saw that too. It is enough to make me stay away from them at this stage, but I still have a feeling RB get a car on the podium.

I am going to lock in Lewis for pole before praccy 1 but otherwise I think I will just stick with some H2H bets at this stage...

Ugh... too skinny for me this early, although you will likely be the man with the winner.

Put an offer up for Alonso to top practice 1 @ $8.80... although the best counter offer has dropped from $6.40 to $5.00 since then, so maybe I got a little too greedy and missed that boat.

Just noticed they have a new market option on Betfair this race. (I think it's new anyway). Just trying to decide if I want to try Alonso or Vettel here.

#F1 radar update 15:44 SGT:You know that shout for no rain? Scrap it! Large storm over the Singapore Strait, close to the circuit. Moving NW

@radarguruf1#F1 radar update 15:55 SGT: Shower will last for 15-20 minutes approx. Circuit will cop the worst of it - dead centre of the cell.

You mean pitpass. And I did put a qualifier in when I said what I did earlier in the week, so I stand by my comments!

It doesn't look too bad actually. Might even be dry by P1...

Kimi had a disaster of a qual session, which sets him up beautifully for taking fastest lap for the race.

Congrats on Lewis pole pick MatI!!

I got him really late at great odds on Betfair. Split bet with Alonso that one of them would beat Vettel for a 2u payout.

I had to force myself to see the end of quali. Was dead to the world 5 mins after it ended.

    Thx Opti, nice work yourself.

Tough picks for the race I think. Just finalising a couple of H2Hs now.

I think they said flat tyre for Massa...

Looks close between Lewis and Seb, but loooong way to go.

At least Perez is nice and slow. Safety car at the right moment and Massa could still get him.

Yep, very strong. Although he came very close to ending it all right there! Also the Hulk is doing well, could really come into it at the end if he does one less stop.

I doubt Hulk can do it if everyone else has given up the 2 stop plan. Maybe Perez though?
