Alright guys were off to Atlanta this weekend for the only race of the season here....and since its Labor Day Weekend the race will be a SUNDAY NIGHT CUP race this year...only 2 races left until the chase starts, so plenty of stories going into this weekend!

all 3 series are in action again this week wityh a triple-header of NIGHT races fri-sun nights...what a week with college football opening and a full slate of nascar...this week starts best 3 months of the year imo

ATLANTA is a 1.54 mile quad shaped oval..banking 24 degrees in all the turns, and 5 degrees on the straights...the fromtstretch is 2,332 feet long with the backstretch being 1,800 feet long

we have had 7 different winners in the past 8 races at AMS....

Old asphalt cookie cutter 1.5 mile track. Hard to deny the speed of Hendricks and the consistency of Rousch on this type of track, their bread and butter that allows them to always race for the title.

Edwards, Biffle, and Kennseth finsihed top 10 in 4 of the 5 on 1.5 milers this year, but I will lean hard on the Hendricks guys although the value might come from a less name racer performing better than expected. JJ has best finish average on 1.5 milers this year, Biffle is 2nd, Jr has finished top 10 in all 5. I expect Gordon to run well again this week as well. I hated going 3-2 last week with Edwards running out of gas late and Kennseth wrecking racing for the lead to give me 2 L's.

Which track results do you use to correlate expectations to Atlanta? Atlanta's asphalt is older than most intermediate length tracks, obviously there are banking and groove variations in all of them. But I find some predictive value in examing results/performance by generalized track types(short, road, superspeedway, flat, intermediate, etc). The 1.5 mile track type is where top teams spend the most money testing/researching as good results there tend to equate to good results for the season.
