Last year Marcos brought over young Aussie racer George Miediecke who he thought had talent, and Aussie sponsors, to race in the UARA Stars Series. (no one but Marcos seemed to notice this talent beforehand)
George took ROTY, most poles and second place in the championship. After having his first oval race in the first race of the season.
I was really hoping he was going to move up this year and might be the next Aussie to have a crack at the top 3 series.
But he did so well a bidding war broke out amongst teams to get him back here for the V8 Development series (Nationwide) with a view to a Supercar seat next year.
This has brought a lot more focus on American racing from local teams. Every week I read of plans for another Aussie who wants to try his luck in the states. This never happened before Ambrose and Miedecke.
Marcos now has new a new boy nobody else has identified as talented enough to support before.
Clayton Pyne, an ex-pat living/working in New York will be racing for Marcos Ambrose Motorsport in a late model car next year.
I can almost guarantee you Marcos will blood a Cup champion before he is done with NASCAR.
