Streets of St. Petersburg IndyCar Race 1 2009

April 5th, 78 days. Graham Rahal was last years winner and the youngest in history of Indy Cars.

The sophomore Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing driver became the youngest winner in major open-wheel racing (19 years, 93 days) by holding off two-time defending race winner Helio Castroneves in the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. It was an historic triumph in an entertaining race on the challenging 1.8-mile, 14-turn temporary street circuit - made more so by a shower during the national anthem.

These cars sit idle at faster RPM's than the taxi cabs in NASCAR @ 190 MPH, FWIW. Dale Jr was begged to race at Texas last season but backed out and we are glad because he would have tore up a good car and/or died in the 1st turn. He was smart and said no thanks.
