    Saturday racing features

After a nightmare trip 3 weeks ago at Gulfstream, I've been watching for Drum Major to resurface. He does this weekend, and his connections must think he's real sharp because they are shipping him to Santa Anita to run in a Grade 1 on the turf on Saturday.

He'll likely be 8-1 or better, but it's extra tough shipping to the west coast to run in this type of race. Plus, a 14-horse field on the turf will force a perfect trip from off the pace if he's good enough with his closing style. His connections must think they can steal this $300,000 race to try this bold move. I'd be more confident if they just left him at Gulfstream, but I gotta play him anyway just in case he scores.

Anybody handicapping the features at Gulfstream or Santa Anita on Saturday, please drop your picks. In the Santa Anita Handicap, I'm leaning toward High Limit, who has looked real good winning his last two for Bobby Frankel. Won't be much of a price though.

Several stakes races at Gulfstream on Saturday, including the Fountain of Youth for 3-year-olds.

I had $100 to win on High Limit last time. I think he is primed to be
one of the best horses in the country. I am going to play him to
Win and Place. My dad and brother love Lava Man.

The Derby is Luck. The best horse never wins that race. It's all about
running style and position. Churchill Downs is a track that alot of
champions have had problems racing at.

Slew ... I've gone over the lines of The Fountain of Youth ... It's almost impossible to make a case for anyone beating First Samurai in this race ... I haven't seen the MLs yet but I'd be surprised if this horse goes off higher than 1/2 ... No value in a win ticket ... Throw him out and this would be an interesting race ... Will be looking for a value exacta in here.

I've had no luck this year after closing the last 4 months last year with a small profit (down for the year of course). The races I've played have been mostly small fields, and I keep running 2nd or 3rd. At least I'm getting some money back, but losing small amounts overall.

It's funny. I've been playing the horses for years since I love the sport, and somehow don't get that upset dropping $200 after a day at the races. Yet, I lose a 10-timer ($55) on a football game and I'm pissed. Been that way my whole life. Makes no sense. Definitely more value for your buck betting sports than the ponies.

I'm going to pick up the DRF to look at the Gulfstream races, even though I might not play them. I agree that the FOY race looks like no value.

Difficult to say Illusion as I've kept no statistics ... I've taken down the entire pool on 2 occasions on superfectas for 8,500 and 11,750 and had a once in a lifetime hit on a Pick 6 for 112k that I split with a friend that went half on 12 combinations ... I seldom play anything more exotic than a Pick 3 now as hitting them is difficult and akin to hitting a mini-lottery even when covering many combinations ... Anyone that tells you they've hit 100s of Pick 4s is delusional ... 10 in a lifetime for avid players would be more like it, if that many.

A Pick 4 with 8 horse fields has over 4,000 combinations and 10 horse fields 10,000 combinations vs. a 4 team parlay that has odds of 24-1 ... Also it isn't a very popular bet as most tracks don't even offer it and the ones that do have only 1 per race program.

This is a gambling venture that it's better to be lucky than good ... I've owned horses in the past (harness), the best of which was 24-11-17 in 86 starts.

Who did you own fox? My dream is to someday own a harness. I have had a few interesting days at the track. Once went in on a double superfecta that had a must win of over 100k. I hit the first superfecta and had one lousy chance of hitting the next one. Imagine playing a single $2 straight superfecta at northfield- nearly impossible. I played my first 3 picks and was deciding who to place 4th. The 1/1 fave I did not like and the #8 horse was like 60/1 but had gotten 4th like 4-5 times in a row. I decided to play the fave and the #8 got 4th. The fave broke stride and came back for 5th. totally hearbreaking. Nobody hit the ticket and it paid first 3 winners for 4k. My biggest trifecta was like 8k. I had the 70/1 shot on top and had to endure a very long photo finish.

Ok call me crazy here but I am going with Giacomo. He had to need that last start and was steadied down the stretch. Yeah no way he woulda caught High Limit that day but there is some early speed in this race and I am hoping for an upset.

Man fox and pic are lucky. I had 5 winners in the PK6 one time and
my 6-1 shot got beat by a head by a 20-1 shot ridden by Patrick
    V. Who is by far the best jockey of all time!! Well him and Shoemaker.
I would of won 10k on that PK6. Most I ever won was 3k.

Even worse for the connections of Corinthian, who was DQ'd in the Fountain of Youth despite the fact the horse he interferred with was beaten in deep stretch and had no shot of winning the race. The pot for first was $200,000, the horse was DQ'd to third and gets I think $40,000. Ouch.

I liked the winner and had him in my exacta with two longshots, but bet one of the longshots scross the board instead of Corinthian. I left the OTB after the race and before the DQ and was muttering to myself how could I not play the 7-1 shot? Then saw the DQ when I got home. Since I didn't have much luck on the day, that would have been a worse finish to the day.

Now that was damn inconsiderate of us ... Maybe we're saving all our accolades for you when you post a winner that pays more than $2.60, or better yet, just post a horse, whether he wins or not, that isn't a CHALK.

I have won 17 out of 19 days, have proved you wrong many times, made
you look stupid, exposed how ignorant you are picked more winners in one
day than you can in a week and when I was mentioning credit
I was talking about for my dad and brother picking lava man not
me dumb-dumb. Man you are really a dumb phuck. LAVA MAN?
MY DAD AND BROTHER? Show me where I asked for credit?

Everyone if you are reading this- this is why I do not like kdmfox.

Let me tell you a short story, One day I picked Miami against
Phoenix in a game, Dumb as a rock kdm posted a reply saying why am
I posting a pick that the whole public is betting. I proved this piece of shit
wrong, I showed him that public was 67% on Phoenix the team I was
betting against. So for the people that PM`ed me saying they didn't
like kdmfox either here's more reason why. And for the people that asked
why I can't stand him? He has no common sense and isn't a solid capper
like I am or Razz or Illusion he is a fraud. He is a broken
    down old fart.

    You bet Harness mostly..

I can read and fully understood you were looking for credit for your family ... Do we have to kiss them also? ... You're a loser of the highest order ... I can't think of a single case where you proved me wrong and if you did, it's gambling ... I can take you down any time I fancy ... I'm not here to prove I'm better than any one on this forum ... You seem to need that and remind us daily ... Not enough attention as a child? ... Get help.

Come on img get off fox's back. He is a harness handicapper and a damn fine one. You specialize in sports. We all have our area of expertise and all of it is GAMBLING. You cannot state that one sport is better than another when all deal with the reason we are here- lotsa cash. I follow your posts and bet on them when I agree. Hell, I bet on them when I do not agree sometimes because you know your stuff in that sport. When the fox tells me he loves a horse and gives a reason I play it just like he does off of me. Let's stop the bickering and get back to the business of making money.

Just break the books together, no need to try and bring each other down. Work together, and everyone will benefit.
