We now turn to the 2nd event of the "Florida Swing" at Bay Hill, a long, watery par 72 that will favor the stronger players off the tee box, but also will require some precise iron play after bombing it off the tee. Looking at the somewhat short field, for a PGA Tour event anyway, I've gathered three players who I think the course fits, or they have been playing well going into this event, here they are:
Scottie Scheffler +1400 He has shown up bigly this year. Won a playoff in AZ already and has very strong iron play which is what Bay Hill demands. He's literally a proto type that fits the course with his style of play and with the way he's playing, I can't imagine him not being in the hunt come Sunday afternoon.
Viktor Hovland +1600 He has a very similar style to Scheffler, though I don't think he putts as well, he is a little longer off the tee which will give him short iron to most of these greens provided his ball is in the short stuff. I see him getting the ball within 10 feet on his approach shots which will help him gather some birdies along the way.
Will Zalatoris +2500 I can't bring myself to not take a shot at this guy at this price. Another great iron player, however, he can't putt to save his life. I'm just firing on him in hopes he can at least make a few long putts for some confidence and maybe something great happens. If he does, it will be a decent payday at the sports book.
So there they are. Haven't brought one home yet this year, but been close and it's still early in the year. Matchup plays have been good, so, as usual, I'll be posting those throughout the week.
Have fun, enjoy the golf!
