Henin is the favorite and defending champion but I think Jankovic has the best value. Jelena just beat Kuzie in Rome and almost beat Justine in Berlin earlier this month.
I actually think Henin should be - money in this tourney. She's just playing too good, and this is her surface.
I don't think she'll come close to winning the tourney, but I'll give you a girl with a lot of guts in good form who just might pull some good wins---Severine Bremond from France. I've been really impressed with her in the past, and could see her doing doing some real damage back at home at Roland Garros.
One of my good buddies' fiance is a top 20 doubles player, and God what I wouldn't give to be able to get down big action on WTA doubles as he'll mention in passing that she went out the night before or that she doesn't think she has a chance that day, etc.
I'd back Henin since my main girl, Amelie Mauesmo, has played lousy tennis this year. But Amilie should be well rested to make a run, plus it's her home country and she's never won. Sharapova is also usually automatic into the semifinals.
Henin likely playing mor focused now that her marriage is over. She always seems an injury candidate though.
Henin is a solid players all year round. She has all kind of weapons: big forehand, slice or topspin one-handed backhand, skillful volleys. Only one thing that I worry about is her physical endurance. I will bet on Henin this year on this kind of surface
Mauresmo gone in straight sets. Down to rooting for Sharapova, injured shoulder and all. She should win her 4th round match on Sunday, but will have some tough outs in her quarter and semifinal match if she gets there.
Sharapova on the brink several times Sunday and pulls out a wild 3-set win over Patty Snyder. Can't see Maria going much farther if she struggled like that today.
Sharapova into the semifinals with an easy straight set victory on Tuesday. Patty Schnyder must be sick today after letting Maria off the hook on Sunday.
Henin has yet to drop a set and is a -246 favorite against Jankovic. Jelena will give Justine some trouble but if Henin can get past Jankovic then she should have no problem against either Sharapova or Ivanovic.
