Tiger Woods is a lock to win the US Open

    That's right. A fukkin lock.

It's May 12th. I will bump this thread June 16th.

3 to 1 probably. That's fine. He will take the course apart with irons and fairway woods off the tee.

Not so fast my friend. Tiger's never even played a competitive round at Merion yet he's a lock

Most of the players have not played the course, I think we will see an outsider longshot Ben Curtis type win.

The problem with Tiger at majors these days is he has to face the best of the best internationally, and the field is as good as it's ever been. Plus, there is zero intimidation factor among the younger players. They don't give a shit about the fist pumps, the red on Sunday or anything else.

Coiner you realize he just beat arguably the deepest field in golf right?

The field wasn't anywhere near as tough or deep as it is for the upcoming majors. Not even close.

Again, Tiger's biggest advantage when he was in his prime was his ability to get out in front of players and then grind out victories based on the fact that they were intimidated by his presence at the top of the leaderboard.

Tiger can still grind, and the advice from Stricker re: his putting was a huge leap forward, but without that mental edge and his long-standing inability to come from behind at majors, I don't see it happening unless he builds a huge lead early. Just too much talent worldwide and not enough of the "he's ahead, now it's over" factor anymore.

The field's deeper than it used to be. I forgot it's not limited to PGA Tour winners anymore.

With that being said, he'll still see more international competition in both the US and British Opens than he did this past weekend.

I also don't see what winning this past weekend has to do with a tournament that's going to happen a month from now. Totally mutually exclusive events.

Be honest do you even follow golf? I don't know how you confused the Players with the tournament in Hawaii that kicks off the year.

I never said anything about this tourney affecting the US Open. You brought up that Tiger has to face the best fields in the world in the majors. Other than the PGA Championship, the Players is the deepest field in golf. Some would argue the Players is an even stronger field.

Now with that said, I can't deny that Tiger has been a different player in the majors the last few years but he's clearly in a much better state of mind right now and he finally feels comfortable with every facet of his game. It was getting there last year but he wasn't quite there and it showed.

Been watching for over 30 years. Played golf through college, and I'm a 7 handicap (though I don't watch nearly as much anymore with three young kids at home and I can't afford to play as much as when I was younger).

I agree with pulledclear. I'll take the field at even money. PM me if you're interested in a wager.

This is bullshit. His greatest advantage was he made every putt inside 15'

Well he is a "lock" to win according to t-wizz. So I feel like I'm giving him the bargain at 1:1.
