    lets go back on history.

    Useless players like Justin hodges and co, are even more useless without him.

    One of the best players you will ever see. Without lockyer they are doomed in my view.

    Even interstate coaches and arched enemies have respect for him...as he is tough and actually puts his body on the line. Don't think the broncos are good, lots of overated young players there that are yet to hit lockyers rating and performance level. Doubt you will ever see a lockyer in the next 20 or so years.

    Without him, they got no chance. Everytime they play without him, they look lost, and hopeless.

    They have a fair chance if the manly inexperienced halves buckle under the big stage! If manly halves are not affected by the finals pressure, it should be an easy manly win.

    Sure - why not! If NQ can be ahead of this Manly team in the first final for more than half the game with a less than 100% Thurston, then the Broncos sans Lockyer can as well.

    5 out of the top 13 played SOO for the QLD team that beat NSW, so of course they have a shot. Gillett is rumoured to be replacing Lockyer, which would be a bad move, I still think they'll end up starting with hunt.

    Lockyer is one side of the ball

    The Broncos defence is good enough to give them a realistic shot at winning this game.

    They wont roll over and concede 30 points just because Lockyer isn't playing.

    Yes! Both defenses are good and I think Broncos will be ultimately concentrating on that part of their game this week. Without Locky it eliminates some of their attacking options, Griffin will be aware of this and will try to grind a win on defense and discipline.

    Lockyer really is overrated, he's a great player but not the imortal people are talking him up as just because he's about to retire.

    If it was at brookoval I would go large on manly, with a spread like that I think broncos could keep it close enough to cover.

    Liability on defence, he has been lucky to have Thaiday defend next to him protecting him.

    I think he is at his best when the Broncos have a lead and he controls the game and guides them around the field so well.

    Definitely, if it was at Brookvale this would be a no brainer bet on Manly - but then again the line would probably be more like -10.5 in the first place.

    Lockyer rarely makes mistakes in defense and his kicking game is still top quality; he's not one of the top 10 any more in talent, and that's part of why I think this line is too much of an over-reaction.

    peterw ain't no troll, and I agree with him that if you think Brisbane can win with Lockyer you have to say they can win without him.

    This could be a Manly blow-out, but without Stewart and Williams on their side I'll happily take my chances.

    The way it was said and the emoticon that was used had TROLL written all over it!

    We can agree to disagree on this one, whether you like it or not, in my humble opinion, Lockyear is a HUGE loss to this team. He is the Managing Director on the field for the Broncos, apart from his kicking game and his passing game, it's his direction on the field that makes him a great loss.

    With that said, this is Rugby League and we all know games can be decided with a lucky bounce of the ball or a bad referee decision. That's the only way I can see Bris winning the game. Cover the 7.5? Yes, very possible, but to win is a much harder task in their current position.

    all comes down to defence..

    If broncos can shut down Manly they can get away with putting up a few points and grinding out a win or a narrow loss.

    No way they can get into a shoot out and beat Manly.

    I just struggle to see where a good kicking game is going to come from.... Everyone is say Wallace will step up... Like seriously? Wallace? Lol beale doesnt offer much in that department. never seen
    gillett at 5/8 will be interesting....

    To say losing Lockyer has not affect on broncos performance is pretty funny...
