    Hey all,

I'm going to only be betting on AFL H2H, and occasionally bets will be fairly large (up to $1000). Is there a particular book that you would recommend?

    Cheers all,

    mjespoz

P.S. Forgot to add that I'd prefer a local book in Oz. Cheers.

If you haven't a track record with any of them so that they'd be inclined to limit you I would think you've no problem at all with that level of staking.
If you wanted just one book to work off you could probably take your pick as different ones will have best price from game to game.
I'd recommend Pinnacle quite strongly as they will be top odds most frequently and never far off when they aren't. But they aren't an Oz book of course. But if you insist on an Oz book I'd probably elect for Bet247 / Sports Alive.
Better still however would be Betfair where, with patience, you will probably outperform all of them.

But why restrict yourself to H2H when you can get better value with the no juice lines offered by Readbet?

Everyone be nice to ipod (starter of this thread). He lost his brother recently: http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/saloon/103...way-while.html

Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 14, suffered injuries which were not life-threatening. All four were friends and are understood to have lived locally. The Ambulance Service of NSW initially said the 16-year-old was driving the car when the accident happened. However police said it had not been established who was at the wheel. Hareeba,

Thanks for the advice! The only reason I'd prefer a local book is "safety", I guess. Have you had any problems withdrawing money from Pinnacle? I restrict myself to H2H because my model predicts probabilty of winning, not margin - still working on that one.

    Thanks again mate.

    Cheers,

Yep, I can understand the advantage of betting with the strictly regulated Aussie books on account of safety but of all the books outside of Australia and England I would think just about everyone would have Pinnacle at the top of the bunch. I've been betting with them for about 10 years and never had any issue at all with withdrawals and in fact never heard of anyone else not being paid by them. EVERY serious punter who can do has an account with them.

    Gee,

If you read the whole thread you'd know that he made that up. He just changed the dates and location and said that it was his brother. He doesn't need us to be nice. He needs to get professional help.

mjespoz, if you read my whole post, you'd know I included Shari's quote, which calls him out and links to the article.

I was being sarcastic about being nice to him.

All good. who reads things carefully on SBR?

In response to your earlier questions:

    1. there are no problems with withdrawals from pinnacle, but you only get one per month. It is safe and has the best lines easily. I bet a lot with my locals too, as it is a lot easier to get paid quickly. The money in your book is almost like a another savings account and can be drawn upon very quickly if need be;

    2. for H2H betting - i dont know of a single bookie in the world who would limit you on $1000 H2H bets. You will be fine whoever you choose.

Hareeba: i just wet my pants. No juice lines at readbet? how long has this been going on for?? I am seriously excited.

yes, it is a great product
started with the launch of their sports betting coinciding with the start of the AFL season
they also offer no juice line betting on NRL and Super15
    limits are confusing though
I've been able to get on as much as $500 sometimes and at other times as little as $60
But you can go back and back and back and build it up to a decent wager over a couple of days as the lines are up at least by Thursdays
Long may it live but one would have to wonder

Betstar also offer $2 line betting at 4pm AEST on Thursdays for about an hour - $200 AUD limit

ah... site is a piece of shit though.

It crashed twice during the registration and now it has crashed during a deposit. Money is gone from the CC, but not into my account. Considering they are an Aussie book and heavily regulated, i'm not too worried. Bit of a pain though.

i asked support how long it goes for. they said "for as long as management wants," so there is no end in sight.

The juice is still a lot better than most other aussie books. i like it.

The main reason i even use an aus book is because deposits/withdrawals are a lot quicker, but i hate the lines usually. props for aussie sports too.

I'll be interested to see how I go on the limits. I dont like late lines, but getting first crack at early lines with no juice probably isn't fair either

My experience with Sportsbet is quite funny. Every time I place a bet, it has to be approved by someone (takes around 2 min). Then it's declined and after that odds drop. I'm betting there dozens of AUD only!

Yeah, money cleared about 30 mins later. Any book based in aus is safe, unless they go bankrupt. I was never concerned.

I was gonna get around to making a thread in the sportsbook and industry forum sooner or later but instead of making a thread with a question that's probably been answered and since all the knowledgeable Aussies are in here I may as well just ask you chaps. What would be the best book for Aussie's to go pro here on SBR with? Pinnacle?

Ideally if I'm gonna sign up with another off shore book I want one that covers K-1 and MMA aside from UFC with all fights on cards covered and method of victory. Aside that live internet betting on AFL/NRL/NBA and soccer would be cool too.

Portlandbet weren't exactly prompt, and I got some assistance to be moved up the queue, but between them and the state regulator eventually everyone got paid. I didn't lose any sleep over the balance (which at the time was a few % of bankroll) because of the guarantees though, whilst I certainly did a few times with books like NoJuice (though I knew the risks going in and made sure the % was much smaller).
