    kentucky derby pool 4

    closes 6pm sunday

take one more position besides greatest honor

    #19 risk taking (30-1 ml..40-1 now)..half unit

added blinkers last 2 starts including breaking his maiden and winning the withers stakes both at 1 1/8M..gained close to 5 lengths in the stretch in both so should love the 1 1/4 derby distance..being by medaglia d'oro this is no surprise as he's a classy stamina influence..
next start probably will be the wood memorial at aqueduct
in about a month..another 1 1/8 race at his home track..if he runs well should be a fresh horse heading for the derby and will have three 1 1/8 races (at the same track) under him ..being trained by chad brown always a big positive

also decided to knock it down to a half unit (changed above)..don't want to water down the return on the other that much

not saying I'd take him @ 2-1 but the 107 beyer he earned towers over these horse..probably go off 1-5 in the santa anita derby and another blowout win which isn't unlikely and you may have a 3-2 derby favorite

I'm losing faith in these figures kona..for example in the sham stakes lig ran a 101 beyer and a 99 brisnet ..my other future greatest honour ran a 103 bris in the holy bull but that only equated to an 89 beyer (which is also the number they gave him the fountain of youth ..nothing to do with point I'm making)..so one race they disagree by 2 points and the other 14..just too much of a difference and it happens regularly

thanks easy..I've given up on greatest honor off his florida derby effort and risk taking (my other) is 5-2 ml in the wood today..according to the beyers both are too slow..already use brisnet and can check equibase numbers through their site..can't go too many directions for one race even though it is the derby so have to toss timeform as I don't use them year round..wouldn't be surprised if they're the best of those 3 even though I don't like pace mixed into the final number..huge disparity in how fast risk taking is between brisnet and equibase..really at the point of tossing figures and going with class instead..it's a joke how much they differ on scale

Get your drift JBEX. I know that Thoro-graph gave Greatest Honor a pretty good number in Holy Bull and FOY. better than the Beyer came up I believe. anyhow it is what it is. I do not use Beyer's just BRIS and every now and then the sheet number.

Greatest Honor got 1's for those 2 races. Not sure on the scale I must state between the sheet # and the Beyers though.

can't really compare as the sheets (both)factor in weight and ground loss..a 1 on the ragozins is faster than a 1 on the thorographs
