I think at mahoning 3yo's are eligible for every race but there are isolated 3yo only races..parx had a 5k that included 3yo yesterday..think Oaklawn which gets underway in a couple of weeks starts early with this but with a significant weight allowance

I think a lot of these races are mcl,nw 2 or 3 lifetime ..you add in at smaller tracks and as an older horse they are still eligible plus the big weight break i would have to think the playing field is pretty level

In routes a major factor. 2 or 3 lbs in a sprint not so bad; 8 lbs an evener, like pt. spread. Light shoes, always a plus, though with some apprentices, still not enough.
