Couple plays I'm looking at for Friday with horses I played at Saratoga. No luck usually at this track but why not try again with a couple of small plays.
Anyone tackling Gulfstream this winter?
Race 7: No. 3 Dinner Break w/ No. 9 SP Indy.
I had Dinner Break in her maiden breaker first out in a turf sprint at 10-1 at Saratoga. They ran her twice on dirt in stakes races after that (3rd and 5th) and on the turf (5th in minor stakes) at Calder last month. Last race, no real excuse but the ride wasn't great. Stuck down on the inside, which is tough on that turf course. Rider switch to Castellano here. Might be 4 or 5-1.
Race 9: No. 4 Hostile Takeover in MSW on turf. Horse ran two sprints on dirt (5th, 3rd) at Saratoga, then ran awful in an off-the-turf race at Belmont in October when stretched out to 1 1/16. 10-1 on morning line and Castellano rides her as well. Decent works for return. Will play with Nos. 9 and 12 in exacta box. Wide open race.

I've noticed that Woodbine shippers are doing well and that speed horses have an advantage so for during the early days of the racing season. GL with your plays
Race 7 GP
1 Miss Tizzynow 12.20 5.40 4.20
3 Dinner Break 4.20 3.20
9 S P Indy 4.20
Typical luck, or no luck at Gulfstream. Dinner Break has a good trip but again stuck down inside for the stretch run and finishes second at 3-1. My 9 in the exacta comes flying late for third (of course) and I don't have the 1 or the exacta. Place and show on Dinner Break makes for couple dollars in losses.
Here's a classic example of why betting in advance is risky. Hostile Takeover, 10-1 on the morning line, incredibly goes off the 3-1 favorite. I figured he's be 5 or 6-1 at the lowest. I would have passed the race at that price. He runs OK, has a perfect trip and flattens out late to finish 4th. One third of my exacta box runs second at 6-1 but that gets me nothing.
Small loss in the two races. On to Aqueduct for Saturday.
