Would someone kindly help me to understand the place pool distribution below. The 6 was 2/5 with 55% of the win money. The race ran 4,6. The 4 paid 3.40 and the 6 paid 2.20. I thought the 6 should have paid more. Is there a simple way to calculate this?

20% track takout puts you at 19000 to pay back give or take..

then after your two place horses you have 19000 - 11000 - 4000 = 4000 to split in half
2000 for each place horse

2000 / 11426 = odds you get back... per 1... round down to nearest 20 cents dime breakage you should get to the crappy track steals the dime breakage - minimal payout..


a bit different if this is a net pool pricing but seems ok
