never bet on horses races, but want to try it, trying to figure out how to bet some guys pick

Exactas are fine.
Put the 5 on top and the other horses second.
If it runs 5- any of your others, you win.
good a way as any.
It is a 2.00 bet for the posted payout.
You can bet more or less if you choose.
