    Penn National PotD

I figure I would start to track my picks in writing as I seem to be on a pretty good streak so far verbally, 5-0 profitable picks in the past months I've been counting.

I live locally to Penn National and frequent it on a rather bi-weekly basis. I will pick on horse in one race per race day as my 'PotD'. I will usually lay a WIN and PLACE on said horse.

My unit size will be 20 points, recreational betting

With all that said here's my first official pick.

    Monday, June 6th
    Race #6
    RED SIERRA
    M/L - 5/2
    Jockey - Dana Whitney
Reason: Dana has been cash-money when it comes to high-purse allowance races. He rides favorites well in this position, on a horse that I feel owns the field.

    Wager: 2.5U WIN / 2.5U PLACE

    Ticket Description
    Amount
    Jun-06 PEN R6 50.00 SBR WP 8 100.00
    Total Amount 100.00

    POST TIME AT 8:05ish

And of course first actual play Dana ***** me. He didn't even challenge the horse .. whipped it twice and just rode it out and finished second LAST... Dana either goes for the WIN or rides the race out last. Whitney is rumored to be a dirty jockey, other jockeys have no respect for him, and the afew owners i know say they would never let them near their horses as he has a history of pricking horses with needles/glass to get them to go faster.. you know the usual dirty tricks

No offense to you, but PN is horrid. Remember the good ole Cinton Potts days?

this thread is great! I just started going to Penn National (only 3 or 4 times a summer) but i love it--my knowledge of horseracing is VERY limited so I'll be watching this thread with great interest--thanks

Fell asleep after work... here's my late pick.
    Tuesday, June 7th
    Race #3
    Lover Nekia
    M/L - 7/2
    Jockey - Katie Lee
Reason: Last two starts it had finished solid 2nd. Katie Lee is a local jockey that has mild success. I have a great feeling it will get first in the final stretch.

I put 10U to WIN on number 6, and 20U to PLACE on number 6

Oh, I know Penn National is a lower 'C' class track. The purses are very small, but not as small as Portland Meadows, lol! It's the closest track to me in my area and I have been going there since I was a kid. Potts in his Red Bull milkshakes he fed his horses, I remember reading the news in the Patriot News. People like him make horse racing less and less popular every day

Dana Whitney got a riding double of course tonight .. when he sucked last night. Got a profit for tonight though with Lover Nekias solid 2nd again as I figured she would push at the end. Not all night's will have huge wagers such as tonights, just had a strong feeling looking at the field it was running against. Let's hope I have continued success on Friday!

    Wagered - 600pts (30U)
    Won - 760pts (38U)
    Profit - 160pts (8U)
    YTD - 1-1 +3U

Hey KW, I am a local to Penn National as well! Live about twenty minutes from there! I might start throwing my picks in here, if you don't mind of course, just to keep with the theme.

I usually head out once or twice a week when time allows. Am pretty excited for the Governor's Cup, but hope the rest of the stake races that weekend don't turn in to the five horse shit fest that the three stake races did a few weeks ago.

Sure go ahead! I will be keeping record in my posts on how I'm doing, if you feel like doing the same, go for it! A friend and I usually check the paper out in the morning and call out our picks and we usually do well when it comes to limiting ourselves to 3-5 picks per day. But when we go to the track and feel obligated to play EVERY race, thats when we even out or even lose our $40 or so we take, lol.

    Friday, June 10th
    Race #1
    #1 - Cool Consigliere
    M/L - 2/1
    Jockey - A. Rod

Reason: I've been there through this horse's successful 4 WIN streak ending a month ago. It's a star attraction at Penn National, I just hope it doesn't get claimed for a measly 5,000. This horse is being put in a race that it completely out classes all other competition. It makes me skeptical that this horse is still healthy. For that reason I hold back on my wager.

3U to WIN and 6U to PLACE

PLACED for 2.80 - Got screwed on this race, there was a late scratch, making the pools even more watered down, making my place cover bet ineffective and making my horse I picked a 4/5 HEAVY favorite.

    Wagered - 180pts(9U)
    Won - 168pts (8.4U)
    Loss - 12pts (.6U)
    YTD - 1-2 +2.6U

Hi fellow Pennsylvanians. I live about 20 minutes out from Penn natl also.

I remember Clinton Potts, good jockey. I'm sure you guys remember when the track 1st
opened how bad the traffic was, to get to the track. You had to go to the window
10 MTP so you could barely get your bets in. Thank you for electronics.

I used to kick ass out there until they raised the stakes and brought in more horses.
I can't do shit out there anymore. I use e-bet USA from them and bet Harness racing
from other tracks. Doing pretty good. Betting more so on sports than the ponies.

Took the wife out there for dinner once, while racing was going on. They had a betting
screen at the table. Swiped my card and made my bets. Watched my exacta hit, live,
as I ate my dinner. Can't get any better than that. That exacta paid for our dinner.

I pretty much just go to the casino and play roulette while the wife plays the slots.

    GL in your bets.
