But I think the Matt Cooke hit on Savard was clean too because I'm a Penguins fan.

Fact is he completed his check late, so interference for sure. Hard to see how they'll suspend him more than 1-2 since it's one of those freak situations and I have a hard time believing his intention was to drill him into the stanchion.

Cooke made a good hit, a clean shoulder on shoulder. If savard got up, no one would remember that hit, ever.
I guess you could just label it a subtle interference, players dont get suspended for that. But they do get suspended for anything that involves putting another players head at risk. Chara forced the guy into the pylon, with obvious knowledge that he/his head would hit it. Thats as dirty of a play as iv seen.
If cooke did that shit, he would get the season. I dont care if its Chara or Cooke...im all for big hits in the NHL, but that play absolutely shouldnt have happened. You wanna finish off a player? Great. Im sure someone with the hockey intelligence of Chara knows where the damn pylon is, and not to finish off a player by forcing his head into that pylon. Simply a reckless play, and he deserves to get suspended for that.

That was as dirty a hit can come, the piece of shit hesitated until the right moment then he clearly guided Pacio's head into the wall at that speed.
They have some history.....if you look at slo mo pictures, you'll almost laugh have intentional it was.
One usually gets called to the NHL offices for suspensions that are 6 games and over, no call has come and normally doesn't come after 2p EST the day after.
I think it was no question an interference call. In no way do I think Chara though about the partition, knew he was coming to it and knew that he could hurt him. I think Chara saw the puck bouncing tied, wanted to make a check to tie up the guy, it would have been a pretty normal interference penalty except for the partition being there. So Chara deserves the penalty, the 5 min...OK, but a game for making an interference penalty that happened to injury a player, something he had not intention of doing, is not worth a game suspension.
The partition's on the ice might be the most dangerous thing in the rink, they need to figure something out so hits like this can't happen, there is really no reason that they need a piece of hockey glass in between the two benches, they can put something up that serves the same purpose without the risk to the players.
Hopefully Pacioretty is ok, sucks to see a guy that finally made it into the league suffer such a terrible injury.
