Hi all. Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been following and picking NHL and NFL mostly for a bit and I feel I'm ready to share my picks here. Here goes:
Friday 3/4/2011
Risking $25: Ottawa +115 Just a gut feeling here.
Risking $25: Ott/NYR U5 +110* H2H: Under is 6-2-2 in the last 10 meetings in Ottawa.
H2H: Under is 19-7-2 in the last 28 meetings.
Risking $25: Calgary -0.5 (regulation) -110* H2H: Home team is 27-11 in the last 38 meetings.
Flames are also 13-6 in their last 19 overall and I believe is simply the better team.
Adding a small parlay
Risking $10 to win $163.64
Ottawa +1.5 -270
Calgary -170
Calgary u5.5 -120
Anaheim -140
Anaheim u5.5 -130
&
Boston -230 (next day)
If the first 5 hit, I will be hedging with the Pengiuns +1.5
Good luck all!~ Wylie Ice ~

Reason: Added parlay
2-0 yesterday which puts me in a positive $ position and my record to
Regular record (3-1-1)
Parlay record (0-1-0)
Not much on board that I like today, so I am going light with a long shot on the Capitals PL. The panthers are a mess but my only worry is that this may be a trap game for the caps given they play Tampa next. Still, I think the caps need this win.
2-2 last night and tonight I'm going to double up on the Blackhawks. They are not going to sleepwalk the first period two nights in a row. If they keep the same intensity as the 2nd and 3rd period last night, they will win this easily.
Regular Record: 6-3-1
Net gain/(loss): $68.27; 2.73units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-2-0
Net gain/(loss): ($35.00); (1.4u)
Wednesday 3/9/2011
Risking $50 to win $45.45: Blackhawks -110 Let's go Black Hawks!
Risking $25 to win $20.83: Carolina -0.5 (reg) -120 The Canes should win this game but let's hope they don't wait till OT/SO to do it.
Risking $25 to win $17.86: Blue Jackets -140 Look for the Blue Jackets to revenge the recent SO loss to the Blues.
Horrible 0-3 last night. Carolina & Chicago came close but Columbus just sucked. Very bad calls, my apologies. Tonight I'm going somewhat light with two favourite plays.
Regular Record: 6-6-1
Net gain/(loss): ($31.73); (1.27) units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-2-0
Net gain/(loss): ($35.00); (1.4u)
Thursday 3/10/2011
Risking $25 to win $27.50: Flyers -0.5(reg) +110
Risking $25 to win $33.75: Canadiens -0.5 (reg) +135
Thanks candid. Unfortunately, halak got the last laugh
1-1 last night with a very small profit. Nothing to brag about but I'll take any pluses while I'm rebuilding. I like one big play tonight and jumping on it early. I have a few leans for the earlier games but I'll post by official picks later.
Regular Record: 7-7-1
Net gain/(loss): ($29.23); (1.17) units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-2-0
Net gain/(loss): ($35.00); (1.4u)
Friday 3/11/2011
Risking $50 to win $62.50: Ducks -0.5(reg) +125 The Avs are in a mess right now. Also, the Ducks are 17-5 in the last 22 head to head meetings and 6-2 in their last 8 road games. Good spot for the Ducks to be in.
Leans (no picks yet)
I'm leaning towards the Islanders and Carolina and might use the puckline in a parlay or two.
I feel the Islanders will play tough at home and won't get blown out.
As for Car@Was, I remember these two teams always playing each other tough, though the Caps have dominated the recent series. I hear that Neuwirth might be out and Varly has been out for a while, so this might be chance for Carolina.
Risking $25 to win $22.73: Capitals -.05 (reg) -110 Changed my mind here from this morning. Gotta go with the hotter team.
Risking $25 to win $30.00: Devils -.05 (reg) +120 This one is a bit of a gamble, but I think they are the better team and going with a gut feeling here.
Risking $10 to win $155: 5T parlay + 1 to hedge the next day. Omit the last play if you don't like this type of parlays
Washington ML Ott + 1.5 NJ ML Min +1.5 Ana ML & Montreal +1.5 (next day) If this hits, I'm putting $80 down on the Penguins ML and hope for a 1 score game!
Big 2-1 win last night that put me back in the green. Missed the parlay by one (Minny) but that's what I get for fading the public. Anyway, tonight I'm taking my winnings and picking on Colorado again. If they can't win at home, they can't win on the road against a team fighting for a playoff spot.
Regular Record: 9-8-1
Net gain/(loss): $31.00; 1.24 units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-3-0
Net gain/(loss): ($45.00); (1.8u)
Saturday 3/12/2011
Risking $25 to win $28.75: Predators -1.5 +115
Risking $25 to win $22.73 : Sabres -110 The Sabres are 16-5 in the last 21 meetings in Toronto and 21-7 in the last 28 meetings. Nuff said.
Parlay risking $25 to win $38.37 : Preds & Lightning
Buffalo and Tampa disappointed me last night and cost me both my parlays. Thank goodness for the Nashville empty netter. Just one play today as I'm mostly watching basketball. Buyer beware though, this mostly a homer play.
Regular Record: 10-9-1
Net gain/(loss): $34.75; 1.39 units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-5-0
Net gain/(loss): ($80.00); (3.2u)
Sunday 3/13/2011
Risking $25 to win $28.75: Blackhawks ML -1.5 +115
Risking $25 to win $38.75 : Blackhawks -0.5 (reg) +155
Small loss last night despite calling 2 outta 3 teams to win, primarily due to the fancy unit management. I think from now on I may just have to simplify my approach. I'm also not doing too well on my parlays, as to be expected since they are more bonus plays. I may just try one more and then lay off and focus on the regular picks.
Regular Record: 15-14-1
Net gain/(loss): $69.59; 2.78 units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-6-0
Net gain/(loss): ($90.00); (3.6u)
Early leans: Tonight I like all the favourites. The only problem is that there's way too much juice. I may have to parlay some together. Bah! So much for simplify! Picks to come later.
Regular Record: 15-14-1
Net gain/(loss): $69.59; 2.78 units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-6-0
Net gain/(loss): ($90.00); (3.6u)
Wednesday 3/15/2011
Risking $25 to win $28.75: Hurricanes -0.5(reg) +115
Risking $25 to win $28.75: Red Wings -0.5(reg) +115
Risking $25 to win $25.00: Ducks -0.5(reg) even
Risking $25 to win $22.73: Grand Salami Home Goal -2.5 -110
Another 2-2 night with a very minute profit. Gotta taking the small victories.
Regular Record: 17-16-1
Net gain/(loss): $73.34; 2.93 units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-6-0

Thursday 3/17/2011
Risking $25 to win $23.81: Chi/Dal O5.5 -105 The Blackhawks are scoring but they are also giving a lot up. Not to mention Turco would likely be starting and I don't have as much faith in him over Crawford
Risking $25 to win $20.00: Col/Cal O5.5 -125 The Avs actually played with some fire last night which surpised me. I'm looking for more of the same.
Risking $25 to win $20.00: Sharks -0.5(reg) -125
Risking $25 to win $42.50: Blues ML +170 In my mind this is the only risky play, the obvious play would be the Kings are home but the Blues have won the last 6 head to head games. The last 2 was with Halak in the net. So I think we are getting good value here.
Crawford is the confimed starter for Chicago tonight, just to let you know. However, 9 out of the last 10 between these 2 teams, the over has hit, so you should still feel confident with that pick. I like all your other picks as well, except for St.Louis. There coming off a tough loss to Anaheim last night, and LA are playing really good hockey right now, winning there last 4 games, all tough ones on the road on top of that. That's just my opinion though. Regardless, good luck with your picks!
Near perfect night ruined by the freaking Blackhawks. Dallas did all the work and scored 5 and the Hawks couldn't even net just one in. Even the Avs scored more than the Hawks! Sigh, doesn't help that I'm a homer and I'm worried the Hawks may not make the postseason.
Tonight I only really like one game. I think the Habs are going to win tonight. Same logic as the Blues last night really. The Habs have won the last 5 head to heads and 2 of the 5 are in New York. I'm just waiting for the odds to come out before I make my pick on this one. I might also throw one unit in the Canucks -0.5(reg). Stay tuned.
Regular Record: 21-17-1
Net gain/(loss): $130.84; 5.23 units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-6-0
Net gain/(loss): ($90.00); (3.6u)
0-2 last night but I didn't invest that much so it doesn't feel so bad. Tonight I'm going big!
Regular Record: 20-19-1
Net gain/(loss): $90.84; 3.63 units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-6-0
Net gain/(loss): ($90.00); (3.6u)
Saturday 3/19/2011
Risking $50 to win 55.00: Minnesota -0.5 (reg) +110 The Wild dominates the Blue Jackets at home
Risking $50 to win $62.50: Florida -0.5(reg) +125 I've been down on the Panthers since they traded all their players away, but they have really been playing well. Look for more of the same at home.
Risking $25 to win 33.75: Edmonton -0.5 (reg) +135 This is a bonus play. Just going against Colorodo's losing streak.
After going 0-5 in two days, I took a break on Sunday just to regroup and refocus. I did have a few leans that hit on Sunday which helps boost my confidence again. Although, there's a small card tonight I feel good about the two plays today.
Regular Record: 20-22-1
Net gain/(loss): $34.16; 1.37 units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-6-0
Net gain/(loss): ($90.00); (3.6u)
Monday 3/21/2011
Risking $50 to win 52.50: Red Wings -0.5 (reg) +105 The Penguins are just riddled with injury and on top of that possibly losing Matt Cooke too. Bear in mind, the Wings are hurting too without Frazen and Datsyuk, but I think with the home crowd they should be able to beat the Penguins by one goal. The Puck Line is too risky tonight.
Risking $50 to win $47.62: Kings -0.5(reg) -105 The Kings have dropped the last two home games. I'm feel they will bounce back tonight. Not to mention the Flames had an emotional loss yesterday and maybe come out flat
And the losing streak goes on. I'm not sure if anybody is even following me but I would advise anybody to either go light on my picks for now. Me personally, I'm tenacious and vow to slowly chip away at my deficit.
Regular Record: 20-24-1
Net gain/(loss): ($134.16); (5.37) units (where 1 unit = $25)
Parlay Record: 0-6-0
Net gain/(loss): ($90.00); (3.6u)
Tuesday 3/22/2011
Risking $50 to win 35.71: Bruins -140 The B's are struggling and desperate. After losing 3 of 4 on the road, they will be glad to be home and I think they will pull off tonight
Risking $15 to win $45.00: Bruins/Devils DRAW +300 I've been burned by a lot of OTs and SOs lately, so I'm going to throw a small amount to cover my first pick should they go into OT and SO. After regulation, it's pretty much a crapshoot
Risking $50 to win $38.46: Blues/Coyotes U5.5 -130 Halak got pulled after allowing 3 goals in 7 minutes in their last game. I expect a stronger game from him tonight. On the other side, Bryzgalov has been pretty solid of late too.
Risking $25 to win $19.23: Montreal -130 I'm looking for Montreal to ride their 8-1 beatdown on the Wild and for Buffalo to come out flat after their 3rd quarter collapse against the Preds.
[B]Big Parlay - Risking $10 to win $182.70 I've had several big parlay attempts that have been off by one team. This is probably going to be the last one for a while. If this does not hit, I'll stop until my regular picks percentage is at least 70%. Here goes: NBA Bulls -1.5
Toronto +1.5
Bos/NJ U5
NY Rangers ML
Nashville ML
Montreal ML
Anaheim +1.5 (next day)
Finally a winning night with the hit on Boston and Blues/yotes Under! Once again, one team killed my big parlay. I should really find a book that offers progressive parlays. Anyhow, as I said before I'm going to stop the big parlays and focus on my regular picks.
Regular Record: 22-26-1
Net gain/(loss): ($99.99); (4.00) units (where 1 unit = $25)
Wednesday 3/23/2011
Risking $50 to win $35.71: Blackhawks (reg) -140 Risking $25 to win $20.00: Blackhawks/Panthers U5.5 -125 The Blackhawks remembers what happened last time they played the Panthers. I sure as hell do. They will come out with a strong effort on the offense and defense. There will be scoring in this game but I think it will be one sided and not go over.
A lot of games on board tonight, there really isn't much that I like. I just two plays today on the same game.
Thursday 3/24/2011
Risking $50 to win 37.04: Islanders -135 I think both of these teams are fairly evenly matched up, but I gotta go with the hotter team here.
Risking $25 to win $20.83: Thrashers/Islanders O5.5 -120 The over is 8-3-1 in the last 12 games that these two teams met. Not to mention that both these teams have hit the over quite alot recently.
Terrible night last night but I'm ready to bounce back.
Regular Record: 25-29-1
Net gain/(loss): ($141.78); (5.67) units (where 1 unit = $25)
Friday 3/25/2011
Risking $50 to win 58.48: Parlary Devils+1.5 & Canucks ML 5 out of the last 8 Penguin wins have gone to either OT or SO, plus I think NJ is the better team here.
The Canucks is the superior team here and should beat a tired Thrasher team playing back to back.
Risking $25 to win $22.73: Canucks -0.5 reg -105 Risking $25 to win $25.00: Devils ML even
Bounced back as I hoped with a 2-1 wins with 2.25 units net profit last night. More of the same coming today, I hope!
Regular Record: 27-30-1
Net gain/(loss): ($85.57); (3.42) units (where 1 unit = $25)
Saturday 3/26/2011
Afternoon Parlays Risking $25 to win $91.75: Parlay Bruins ML & U5 & Kings ML Risking $25 to win $30.59: Parlay Bruins ML & Kings ML The home team is 8-3 between the B's and the Rangers. As for the Under, I see a push as the only risk here. Nonetheless, I'm adding another parlay to cover myself should the B's come out with an offensive explosion. Kings over Avs? Not much to be said here. The Kings need the win to stay in the Western race and the Avs are still a mess.
Risking $25 to win $41.25: Leafs ML +165 Bertuzzi, Frazen and Datsyuk are all out tonight. The Leafs are on a 3 game win streak and the Wings are on a losing streak. Good value on the Leafs here. I might even throw some money on the Leafs PL if the afternoon parlay hits.
Risking $25 to win $26.25: Nashville -0.5 +105 The Preds at home are tough and should come away with a win.
