    NHL system of last year

Last season a guy on this forum, come out with a system where you bid on a team who are on the road for at least 3 consecutive matches.

I remember the details on how to do it, but I would like to know if it was profitable at the very end of it.

And what exactly is the logic behind this system, seeing how it is a well-detailed trend that many NHL teams have some of their biggest winless slumps of the year during those dreaded roadtrips... I'd be curious to know how you could argue against that.

I can't remember who did it but I would not recommend chasing on the road. Lots of top notch teams are known to lose 4-5 straight on the road at least once a season. A home chase would be much more successful.

    JM NHL System

I believe this is how the season ended or close to it:

    Record:
    JM V1 Plays using ML: 80(A)-40(B)-16(C) (+24.59)
    JM V1 Plays using PL: 80(A)-24(B)-5(C) (+19.75)

    JM V2 Plays using ML: 92(A)-47(B)-22(C) (+13.42)
    JM V2 Plays using PL: 92(A)-29(B)-11(C) (-2.96)

You will have to read the following thread to understand the different versions:

The system isn't bad, just Morrison is!

The 3 road game chase did not do very well last year. And after the Olympic break all systems were messed up to me.

Last season, if you had participated in a chase AGAINST teams on road trips of three games or more, you would have gone 161-10. The biggest downside is that half of those 10 losses came on four- or five-game roadtrips, which obviously makes it more costly. Three-game losses you can overcome; longer ones require a larger starting stake. Of course, there's nothing that says you couldn't add your own filters.

If you played a chase WITH home teams on homestands of three games or more, you would have gone 160-11. Of the 11 losses, however, eight of them came playing teams that didn't make the playoffs. So if you can add some filters once you get some sort of idea of which teams are good and which aren't, say, after each team has played 20 games or so, you might get through the season with very few series losses.

I also backtested the 09-10 season using a variant. If you chased with the visiting team on these roadtrips but bet ML when they were a favorite and PL when they were an underdog, you would have gone 165-6. This is worth a further look.

I came up with the road team chase system. Morrison stole it direct from this forum including the spreadsheet made by floridagolfer because he used an error that was in that spreadsheet.

Just look at the records posted by mitchp in this thread and you will see betting moneyline using this system, and possibly even using Labouchere money management instead of Martingale makes it a definite winner.

    Mcbain,

I will be using your system this season taking the ML. I believe it is a very valid way to bet hockey and look forward to a profitable season. HAve you added anything to it (filters) that we should know about.

    Thanks
    Mitch
