Dumb move. Buff's like a black Lindross without the concussion problems or massive salary... The kind of player that comes along once a decade. Stan didn't even make himself much cap space, this is just an idiotic trade the team will regret for years to come.

great trade for chi.... get rid of 3 contracts that are and would be heavy against the cap... also trading buf while his stock is high is a smart.... i just surprised they got a 1st and a 2nd pick.... nice going.... atlanta will regret this

They had no choice but to free up as much cap space as possible with the cap nightmare they have on their hands. Someone good had to go in the process.

Buff is loved in chicago, but I think this organization has won the right to get the benefit of the doubt. Bowman knows what he is doing. Everyone complained when Dale left and Savi got fired. But it all worked. I would rather clear up room now and protect everyone else then to keep buff.

Bowman has an obscene amount of draft picks now.

They will do whatever it takes to protect the future of Toews, Kane, Sharp, Keith, and Seabrook.

Chjarmelson(sp?) and Niemi are going to be signed shortly.

That's right. Byfuglien has proven that he can be a big asset in the post-season. But renewing his contract would cost the Blackhawks quite a bit.

exactly....I love buff but i dont want any of them going anywhere.

Bipolar 2 good playoffs in a row. He had 11 goals in the playoffs but probably only 15 in the season. I will seriously miss big buff and will never forget him knocking pronger on his ass or when he skated a long the boards to give it to the fans.

I will probably miss him the most if we run into vancouver a gain.

Obviously we don't like letting go of Buffy, but it had to be done. Couldn't keep him after next year anyways.. Nice cap move.

There was no choice because of the cap

The had to move either Sharp. Buf, or, Versteeg.

Versteeg is way too young and has too much upside.

Sharp has been a consintantly good player for years

Byfuglien had one great playoff series. Look at his regular season # 's the last 2-3 years....34. 31 and 36 points

Classic buy low sell high trade.

Cool line bro....you might be the biggest idiot on the board if you think that is true. Sopel was even on the radio the other day saying he understands why some people in chicago dont like him. Hes older, Buff was like 3rd for the conn smythe.

stupid trade??????? opens up over 5 million for the salary cap so we can pay all of those performance bonuses that everyone got after this past year...i do agree that i hate to see big buff leave, but i'd CERTAINLY rather get rid of him than versteeg and burish and bolland.....with the #8 pick i think we can certainly pick up a kid that can get some ice time in a year or 2 and the old man marty reasoner shows that madden also won't most likely be coming back as he's expected to make a decent amount this year to if he returns....

either way, the core and heart of the team and the countless number of studs on this team remain and are locked in for a LOOONG time so no worries for me yet....

Take a look around the league and see what most of the better teams have. Defense. Sopel has been banged up, yes, when he is healthy he is top 20 in the league.

Seabrook and Keith and Chjarmleson will do the trick.

They already are loaded.....Kane, Toews, Seabrook, Keith, Sharp...if Niemi keeps improving they are on their way to defending the title.

Sharp is gone. Next to be traded. I am witnessed this first hand as a Wings fan. The league is too staked to rely on a select few.

Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Lidstrom, Rafalski, they can't do everything. Niemi is the key factor, if he stays playing well, Chicago will be ok. I don't see Niemi being as dominant. He surely wasn't in the regular season.
