That first period played about how I expected. Fast pace yes. WPG won 63% of the faceoffs.

Toronto led the shots because they had the only power play. 18 shots vs 14 for Winnipeg

I caught a couple of errors with my previous record keeping. They are pretty minor, and completely unintentional.

I was using a template from last year and think got flustered during Week 2 where my picks were losing left and right. The Overall W/L totaled up wrong - for example - I listed one "push" but none of my picks this year did actually push yet! Also I made a couple errors re-copying games with the wrong team name.

So here is my re-posting of the correct records for Week 2 and 3.

Also I am now posting the current Week 4 record to bring everything correct and current.
There were no errors in Week 1.

None of our readers pointed this out, and I'm not gonna say sorry about it because I've caught it myself and now everything should be completely correct. There is quite a bit of effort involved to keep this thread current with the amount of detail that I do.... and I do the detailed way to help me improve and stay focused on the details of the games I'm trying to predict.

I'm still of the opinion St.Louis is better than their record indicates, and many of the numbers I look at support the thought. With today's home game against the rival Blackhawks, they must find a way to win. Sometimes I have used this type of logic before and it ends up not working out and looking foolish like wishful thinking... today will be different.

Last game of a 5-game road trip for Tampa Bay, which they only lost once on the trip, it was the first game in Minnesota and that was in Overtime. A key to this is Louis Domingue is the starting goalie for Tampa tonight, in the arena where he recently was with the Coyotes until last year. Anyway, Arizona almost always beats Tampa, usually as a huge underdog. Tonight they are about even money at home! I would be going larger on this pick, but the Power Rankings are so far in Tampa's favor. However, Arizona has only played Overtime once this season after 9 games, so although I shouldn't risk money on the sucker prop bet for OT, taking a one unit stab on it tonight.

This is a max 5 unit play for me. I see a little RLM on the odds, which I don't understand, as most of the metrics I look at scream Islanders win. Add to that, Montreal has not yet lost two consecutive games on the season, but tonight they are starting Antti Niemi in goal, on the road, against a hot Islanders team looking for an elusive sixth win in a row. Montreal also has more players on the injured list than the Islanders.

Another max 5-unit wager for me on consecutive nights. I very carefully considered this game and believe it's the correct play. The -155 juice is high, but not out of my range. Just to give a couple bullet point reasons why:

Kings have played 2 fewer games on the season than the Ducks. Most recently, both teams beat Columbus at home, but the Ducks faced the backup goalie for Columbus and barely won 3-2 score Overtime, while the Kings faced Bobrovsky in net and handily won 4-1 score.

Ducks have played Overtime in 3 of their last 4 games, going back to Oct.28, while the Kings have not played any Overtime.

Both teams are generally secretive with their lineups, but from what can be assumed the Ducks still have a ton of significant players on the injured list. Meantime, the Kings recently got Dustin Brown back and have won 2 of the 3 games he has played. I don't see the Kings allowing the Ducks call-up players to come into their building and win tonight.

I don't see a lot of great potential picks on tonight's schedule. I see some leans but cannot make the cut other than this game. Risking a total of 5 units with Buffalo on the road in Montreal is probably never a lock, but I'm splitting up the risk by betting it with some alternate lines, thus getting better odds on the potential payout. My numbers show Buffalo with a slight edge. Couple that with Montreal having way more injuries. Also, Sabres last played on Nov.4, while Montreal has played 3-games since Nov.3 in which they went 1-2 W/L

Record & Profit has dipped down a little after the past two weeks.

There was a big swing on the 2 Buffalo games I picked this week to win in regulation.... they won in Overtime then a Shootout, resulting in -8.20 units lost total on just those two games...

Very frustrating to have the winning team picked, but still lose because I thought they would win by more convincing scores.

Strong finish Sunday with 3-1 W/L is encouraging.
