He knows the Caps just got hot, won't do much henceforth and that he's in demand due to the Cup. He'll get a good raise and a long-term deal.

if you live in canada or nothern us just play hockey and you are set for life. easy to become a pro or semi-pro because there are no blacks. then just become a coach if you have a good personality you will be set for life

hockey is all about skill. you play everyday from age 7 or so and you will go far. most of the world doesnt play that much so like golf you will gain extra skill to beat out the competition that mostly cant afford to play everyday its expensive

Wow. I guess he needs a new challenge. I'd question his sanity though if he went to the Islanders. They're a toilet of a franchise (totally biased Rangers fan here)

Pre-Lou Lamoriello what you said would make a lot of sense. But no longer - he's a a game changer, best executive in any sport.

Keep wondering how the hell the Islanders ended up with him.

Built the Devils from scratch in his own image - took 3 Stanley Cups. Also, found and hired Rick Pitino in his first HC job. Also declined to be considered for Yankees GM job - more than once - ultimately was an in-house booster for Brian Cashman, who calls him the best GM a New York team has had in the past 50 years. Can understand the high praise - but about now Cashman is in the conversation for that honor himself.

Lou is top drawer. Period. The Islanders have not been. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Isles fans whisper "Ovi" ... like Yankee fans who announce (as opposed to whisper) names like Harper, Bumgarner, or Machado.

I'm not a big fan on a coach wanting a pay raise... or even holding out because of contract issues...

But he did deserve a raise. Good for him.

Why didn't Washington just give him the extra money? I don't get it? Kind of stupid of them. You could end up with a sh#$ coach like the Red Wings have. Fukking retarded.
