    Hotcross NHL 2017-18 Thread

    NHL season will be tracked. Any questions just ask. Some nights I will post analysis, but most of the time for my hockey thread here I will not be sharing the reasons for the pick.

    OPENING NIGHT - Wednesday Oct.4

    PHI@SJ UNDER 5.5 -129 // 1.29 units to win 1
    These two don't meet very frequently. Visitors from Eastern Conference, while San Jose of course from West.
    IN GENERAL, OVERTIME IS A DISTINCTLY HIGHER PROBABILITY WHEN TEAMS ARE NOT IN THE SAME DIVISION. THIS IS BECAUSE BOTH TEAMS EARN A POINT TO THEIR RECORD WHEN GAME GOES TO OVERTIME. WHEN NOT IN THE SAME DIVISION, EACH TEAM DOESN'T MIND AS MUCH THAT OPPONENT EARNS A POINT.

    San Jose has dominated Philly when SJ is home. 9-1-1 record at home vs. Philadelphia.
    Why not play Sharks to win? They are -150 favorite currently and I expect this game will be close. Too much juice to lay with no games yet played in the regular season.

    5-1 under in the last 6 games between these two teams.
    Philly acquired goalie Brian Elliot which represents an upgrade for them in net.

    Martin Jones remains as the San Jose starter, and he is usually solid, but did have a fair amount of shaky outings last year, so I believe he should be seeking to improve his consistency. His team also needs to play good defense in front of him, thinking this will be a focus for both teams tonight.

    Game saw 2-2 score end first period, under dead on arrival.
    Opening Night had 3 out of 4 road teams win (2 dogs and Pick'em with Toronto), with Overs in those 3.

    Going to sit back and observe a few nights until see something.

    Nothing particularly I like for Thursday night. Don't think NY Rangers should be -200 vs. Colorado but not playing it either way.

    A litte parlay action for this evening. Toronto will be at home against the formidable Blackhawks, who are starting their backup goalie. Toronto favorite reflects this info. Meantime, Calgary never wins at Anaheim, so it's curious as to why the line so low for Anaheim as a thin favorite at home. If the Leafs lose in the earlier contest, thus killing the parlay, I will take the Flames in a straight bet.

    Both games are "line plays" so if you're not into that sort of thing, fade away. I'm looking for some value on the parlay hitting.

    Early line on tomorrow's game and it may well drop/move to the opponent's side, Detroit, who boast a 2-0 start to the season. Dallas is winless so far, but this is just the type of matchup Dallas will enjoy and be motivated for in front of the home crowd. It should be noted this is the second of a 4-game road trip for the Detroit Red Wings to face three Western opponents.

    Peter check Heritage lines day of game (not overnight lines). Do a little research then come back here and apologize.

    Also couple other guys have posted plays using Alternative Pucklines, for example a few nights ago someone posted Colorado -1.5 at +425 think that was Oct,5 when they beat Rangers. I know Nitrogen has those lines offered, probably 5dimes too

    Im here for the same man i dont ever cause drama i see how much goes on here though the couple days iv'e been on here....i i had the under in the faceoff 1250 contest on here as well i did like detroit though after such and emotional win for Vegas but it didnt fit how i make my plays so i laid off....again sorry about that man lets keep making that $$$$

    Canadian people are known for being polite. Listen, I'd rather have us able to accept apology for something and move on, and put our heads together to collectively win the dough.

    We all have a clue about Hockey and let's benefit from it.

    Having said that, the moneylines tonight - some don't make sense to me right now. Flyers are favorites at home vs Washington?? I mean WSH is playing great. Also Rangers are starting backup Pavelec goalie tonight, and New Jersey will also start backup Kinkaid. Rangers -155 right now seems wayhigh they have been playing like shit.

    Help me/ help us figure out these games tonight. Any thoughts boys?

    Minnesota home opener loss to Columbus last night was a heartbreaker, never trailed in the game, 2 goal lead in Third period, allowed CBJ to force overtime and lost when a puck bounced forward off a player's momentum into the net. I'm not whining about any loss, but luck wasn't on my side there...swing of 6.30 units for me. I know Minnesota had some injuries but they are good in home openers and Columbus was on a back-to-back night. Wild shoulda never allowed Overtime.
